Savannah, Georgia

I wanted to share with you some photos I took a while back when my family went to Savannah to visit our eldest sons, Brent and David and Brent's girlfriend, Emily. They live there and we love to go visit them. These are photos from the famous Bonaventure Cemetery.

I love statuary. Figural statuary. I even have a cement statue of St. Francis holding a bird in my living room ~ I'll share a photo of him later. Figural pieces are beautiful to me. As I walked through this cemetery I was amazed at the beauty around me ~ the moss hanging in the trees and the aged patina on the monuments. You'd think a cemetery would be creepy but it wasn't. Majestic and quite full of art and so much history. . .

Girl...You take the most gorgeous picutres!! I have been by this cemetary several times, but haven't actually gone into it. We don't live too far away, so will have to have a look see one day.

Dawn! Those photos are GORGEOUS! I went to GA once for a tradeshow and just loved those weepy, droopy, mossy trees! They are so enchanting and lovely! Just like in Gone With the Wind! =)

If I had that place near, I'd consider it my studio and photograph the kids there! I love that arched piece.

I love Savannah!!!!! I lived in Charleston for 10 years and we went to Savannah on a regular basis. Awesome photos! Congratulations on your blog article:) You're famous! I miss the spanish moss on the trees. I miss the trees. Texas trees are so spread out here it's almost like not having trees. Love, Jmaie

Oh Dawn I LOVE Savannah! How lucky your son lives there. My husband and I had all the arrangements made to spend 5 days there in the spring. Due to work we had to cancel. We have to get back there.
Best,
Kathy

I love cemetery art. My friends think I'm a little off bubble. It comes naturally to me. My Great Grandfather was a gravedigger around the year 1906. I also loved your photos because I love watching the movie "Midnight In The Garden Of Good And Evil" over and over.

Breathtaking! There are incredible works of art in old cemeteries. I enjoyed the book "Midnight In The Garden of Good and Evil" and the movie. The draping of the moss enhances the beauty of that place. xxoo Heidi
