Sweet bird ~

Today was a day of shopping and gathering. Fresh ingredients to make the cupcakes ~ spinach dip and other things. A precious outfit for Clara for me to give Emily at her other shower that her family is giving her Feb. 14th. Also, I found a teddy bear that has the sound of the mother's heartbeat, so I had to get it as well.

I've been trying to think of a way to display the cupcakes creatively without buying one of those cupcake stand/holder things. Well, believe it or not, I don't have a cake plate (but have sold a blue million of them at the antique store!) but found one at W-mart with a dome for only 9.97!! Then I purchased a parfait glass and another glass plate, each only 1.50 or so. I will turn the glass upside down onto the cake plate and place the smaller plate over top to have a two tiered glass display. It won't hold all of the cupcakes but at least I will have a pretty display that all of the items can be reused after the party! Here are a few found images of what I purchased:

I hope that you are having a wonderful week!! Things should calm down here a bit after this weekend ~ Thank you so much for sweet comments!!!

Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday dear friends!
xxoo, Dawn

wonderful Dawn, Thank you for the images. I have been wanting to do something with bird images for my studio because Daddy loved birds so. A little bit of him in there. Thank you for sharing those.
I can not believe you didn't have a cake plate. I am honored enough to have my Grandmothers. Your double tier stand will be wonderful. I can't wait to see all the decorations.
Have fun.
Blessings,Pea

Oh my gosh Dawn...Creative minds think alike. First the thing with us both thinking about the decorated cupcakes and now guess what I just made a few days ago....a tiered plate set. I had posted my finds at the resale shop last week and I had bought some china plates and glassware to make a tiered set. I'm going to email you a photo of what I did. Yours will look wonderful. I have began thinking about my son's graduation party this summer and I am going to do the decorated cupcakes and make some type of stand. I want to try and make a large one. Just need to figure out how to do it!
Can't wait to see everything from Sunday. Remember LOTS of photos.
Blessings...Sherry

I know you are so excited and I am excited for you! If you need another glass plate, I recently (yesterday) figured out that my glass plate inside the microwave was excellent (and not too heavy) to serve as a cake platter. I kept the one from my old microwave...not knowing at the time exactly what I was going to do with it. Just another last minute hint...have fun with the shower! love ya, melissa

Love the little bird image! I need a new cake stand. I had one that was a wedding gift to my mother and father but age, use, and years were not kind to it. The surface glaze cracked and lifted and began to flake off. It met its doom when a friend accidentally dropped it. I like the glass one with the dome that you chose. Have a wonderful gathering!

That's a great idea! I've seen glasses turned upside down like that before, but I never think to do it myself. The shower is going to be so wonderful! I can't wait to see photos from it! ~Lori

Dawn, Love the little bird, but you knew I would! You can also take your cake stand turn it upside down and put the lid inside the hole on the bottom and then you have a punch bowl! Just add flowers around the base, it's very pretty that way. Just another idea for your cake stand. The shower is going to be beautiful!!!! Have a wonderful time!!! Blessings, Deborah

Dawn, everything you're doing for the baby shower is just simply wonderful - beautiful, clever - you are truly amazing! Thans for sharing all your ideas, recipes, hints, etc. At a baby shower last fall at church, we put tea lights in baby food jars (clean!) with a bit of lacy paper & ribbon around - cute & economical for our budget.

I'm sure the shower will be a wonderful success, providing lovely, lasting memories for your whole family. Be sure to get lots of pix & save some bits'n' pieces for Clara's baby book or scrapbook.
