Found....good stuff ~

I ran a few errands today and of course had to stop by Books-A-Million to see what they had that I couldn't live without!

Altered books have been on my mind lately and I've admired so many other artist's work and I've really been wanting to try to make one. I found a book that shares a lot of really neat ideas so maybe it will spur me on to give it a go!

Another neat thing is that they had all of their calendars on sale for just $3.00! I've always loved this Country Living calendar so I bought it as well ~ the images inside make me smile :)

And the new Victoria was out so I had to get it too!! Look at the calling cards page....look really close and look who you see....Deena's card!!!! Yaaaaay Deena, I'm so happy for you being in this magazine!! It even speaks of her Primitive Gathering website....

I LOVE pressed ferns ~ this article is in Victoria too...

A peek at the Altered Book Workshop book ~

I had to share this beautiful piece of lichen Emily brought inside to give me....why do I find this beautiful? I don't really know...but I do ~

Beautiful things make me smile....

Have a very happy Wednesday sweet friends ~

xxoo, Dawn

Just love books on Altered Books! Bought two of them recently and posted about them on my blog coz I thought they were just brilliant! I'm sure you'll love your new one too Dawn.
I also find lichen so pretty. Took some pics of some on a wall at my sister's house, but somehow managed to lose them. :)

Again I am inspired by all the 'neat things' you find and do. I like that lichen too...perhaps it is the simple beauty in the colours....and the complicated growth pattern ... art in life

Now I have always wanted to attempt an altered book. I've been gathering quite a pile of free books culled from the library and the flea market for such purposes, but I've been much too timid. So, on that note, you go first! :D

Of course you love that beautiful curled lichen...the color alone is exquisite.

Hi Dawn:

I think the lichen is really beautiful too. I like Altered Books but I have to promise myself not to take on one more crafting passion. Cute post today.

I think lichen is lovely too and makes a wonderful natural element. You'd done a post some time ago featuring a gentleman with a beautiful collection of naturals in cases - Loved them!
Enjoy your book making too - I'm working on a handmade book as well , they're lots of fun :)

THe mags look great - I am such a magazine person- spend way too much and won't part with any of them!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE altered books as well- have for years, but have never attempted one- what's the worst that could happen?.. I toss it out? I think I'll make one :-) See what a good mentor you are!

I just bought the new Victoria--haven't opened it yet, but will have to now, and send Deena a note--I used to collect the old Victoria magazines and had quite a stash over the years and was so, so disappointed when they stopped publishing. The new Victoria is beautiful, but not quite the same. Oh well, change is inevitable . . .

Hi Dawn
I am responding a week later - school and work are keeping me busy! I just love this book. It gives the "how" and "why" of creating altered books.
