Jenny Doh had asked me months ago if I'd come up with an apron for the new publication, Apronology. Sort of my spin on the whole apron thing. Well, I've finally started working on an apron to send in but I have been procrastinating terribly and truthfully, I just can't explain why, but I have. The deadline is coming fast and I'll need to pop it in the mail in the next day or so. Are you like that? If you are about to do something new, you put it off not wanting to do it wrong??
I have a nice collection of old linens that I've been going through to possibly use for this project and wanted to share what I've started with.
I have an old petticoat or slip that has holes and tears in it, but the double ruffle that is around the bottom is just beautiful. So I've taken a section of the ruffle and applied it to the bottom of a new, but washed, cook's apron from Hobby Lobby. I thought the ready made apron would be a nice base for applying these wonderful old linens to . . . we'll see how this turns out, I'm still not convinced I can do this in time ~ ugh!
Now that I've started on it, I'm getting the vibe and hopefully will have it shipped to California in time. I don't know if mine will be artistic enough ~ maybe just resourceful! I love reusing old things, but I'm sure you've realized that by now! Next I need to start on my art quilt to submit by the end of the year ~ you can read about submitting yours HERE.
PS. There's a sweet new blogger in town!!! Her name is Pattie and her blog is The Joy of Nesting ~ you know I love that name!! Please pay her a visit and give her a warm welcome to this land of blog . . .
~ Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday ~

Can't wait to see your result. I love vintage aprons, and the ones they have put out as 'teasers' look so interesting.
You are a shoe in! Just think of this as another of your wonderful rich textural layered collage projects! It will be fabulous!
I am off to visit Pattie!
Thank you for mentioning Pattie and her blog. I spent my lunch hour reading it and visiting the "women who inspire her". It was a wonderful break in my day!!
I'm looking forward to seeing your apron ~ I'm sure it will be lovely!
I hear ya Dawn! Jenny asked me too but I just haven't had time to make the one I want,so I didn't start it. I can't wait to see them all. It looks like you are well on your way!
i am sure whatever u do will look just lovely, m'sweet friend! whenever we try something that is out of our 'comfort' zone we git a bit anxious... will keep you in my thoughts & prayers, too. am keeping nita & elizabeth in my prayers, also. hugs & blessings, vikki ♥
I think your apron is going to be beautiful. I love the way you reuse... so many lovely things get tossed because people don't have an eye for their potential!

Hey Dawn! Sometimes inspiration doesn't strike until the pressure is on-lol! I'm sure your apron will be just wonderful and very you! I'm working on an article they asked me to do for a new publication called Somerset Apprentice, detailed instruction on one of my collages. Looks like we will have a whole new bunch of magazines full of lovliness to look at! They sure keep busy over there!!
hugs friend,
Pam
I'll be eager to see what you've come up with. I KNOW that it will be fabulous!
Also, I understand what you mean about something you said with regard to "perfect." Often, I find that what I'm creating doesn't have the look that I'm going for simply because it's so tidy. My niece sews the most creative stuff and it looks wonderful precisely because it's not tidy...not in the least.
Sometimes, well OK, a lot of the time, it's 90% thinking, trying, composing, decomposing, and so on and so forth, and at the 11th hour, the 10% kicks in and it all comes together!
cheers, Colette xoxo
