For the love of seam binding ~

First, I have a wonderful old photo to give you....
~ Home Sweet Home ~

You know when I find good things I have to share them with you!!
I am so in love with seam binding.....
It drapes so beautifully and feels so very old.
I love using it on things I make ~
this is the way the binding looks right off the roll...
I used it on the ends of this pincushion
and a little through the buckle.

I love checking in on Tammy Tutterow's blog regularly.
She's so good to share techniques and I love that about her!
Tammy has created a little video showing you how to dye seam binding ~
Just CLICK HERE to see her recent post and to watch.

What I love about Tammy's technique
is the OLD, crinkled, variegated look that
the ribbon has when she's finished!!!

And the perfect place to buy seam binding?? Zipperstop.com
I've bought the 100 yard rolls from them and they ship very quickly!
Just be sure to study the color charts
if you don't plan on dying your own...
The colors are a little tricky if you're looking for a certain shade ~

Just a little sharing of information....
that's what makes the world go 'round!

Wishing you a great Friday my sweet friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

Wonderful, Dawn--thank-you! I haven't used seam binding yet, but I've heard it's great to use in vintage products...and dyeing it with Glimmer Mist would be perfect!

Thanks for sharing what you learn--we really appreciate it!

OMG Thank you Dawn for this link. I have been looking for instructions on how to crinkle and dye for so long. I've been buying from Etsy sellers but have wanted so much to learn this techinque myself. I truly feel I've hit the jackpot. Thanks again. Your blog is the first one I visit everyday. Thank you for being here.

Thanks for the seam binding tip! I love the vintage stuff (which I can never seem to find) and so this is just as good. Although the website took forever to load. But that may be because I have too many windows open or something.....

Well, I am a mostly lurker, Dawn. I love your site...and I love seam binding. I have ordered from that EBay store...but how much fun to dye it. I am going to go check that blog out that you mentioned. I saw a beautiful ribbon on Pretty Petals (I think) that had been dyed in several colors, then made into rosettes...just yummy!

Come and visit my daughter's and my new blog, if you would like...

Tony purchased an olde McCalls Pattern cupboard for my workshop (metal - 10 drawers) and one of the drawers was FILLED with OLDE seam binding - most from Snug-Hug !!! I was giving it away to all the gals who make things for us - YIKES...being more prim - I just take some yards off - soak it in instant coffee and "squeeze" it out - pop in the microwave for about 25 seconds and ta-da - ready to use!!! I am loving some of the colors on the chart...have to go check them out...XO, Judy
