Imperfection is good and a little recycling ~

I've discovered that there's something really liberating about making an art quilt. Especially one with a bird/nature theme. I love the uneven edges ~ the fact that it's not precise is the look it needs. I loved things to look perfect but it's OK if this isn't. Nature isn't perfect but that's the beautiful of it, isn't it?

I still need to finish my little nest in a jar assemblage now that I'm creating again but I wanted to show you a little something. Consider using things that you'd normally toss ~ who knew a pickle jar could be so useful in your art??
Edited to add: I leave my jar and lid in the dishwasher for about three washes....or however many it takes to get the lovely smell out!!!

Can you believe it's December 31st??? What a wonderful year it's been with all of you!! I'm so excited about the new year too ~ we have so much to....create, share, love, experience and see!!

Wishing you a very happy, fun and safe New Year's eve!
xxoo, Dawn

I like reusing things too! People save for me the backs of their legal tablets for one. Your quilt is wonderful. I like the theme very much. Some day I'm going to have to learn to transfer images to fabric.

You are making some beautiful progress on the art quilt! Love the textures and muted colors! It is so YOU! I also love jars and wince whenever one goes in the trash bin. But I already have dozens of them in my studio, LOL!

Yes, I've been saving some of the more unique jars and the ones that seem a good size like cherry jars, etc. Good tip and I'm glad to see that you're using them, too.

It's been a fun year visiting you here... And an even better year is on its way even at the door!

Good morning Dawn~
Thank you again for your help, you are always there for me.

Your quilt looks great, let us all see it when you finish.

I have been using my pickle jars for a long time. I paint roses on the lids and use them to store things in the fridge and craft supplies.

Hope you have a Wonderful New Year with lots and lots of creative ideas. God bless you and your family!

Smiles,
Pat

Happy New Year Eve and Day Sweet Dawn!! I wish for you to have a year filled with many firsts ;) and to create tons of beautiful memories!!!

Maybe it's so liberating because Nature is perfect when humans aren't trying to impose their conception of "perfect" :)

It's great to see that Dawn has her groove back !!
