It's good I'm in the studio....but I'm not creating.
Just taking pics of lace I have stashed in an old suitcase ~
I love old lace so much!
I had this amazing old battery box glass thing and thought this nest
one of the boys gave me would look beautiful inside BUT...it's a little large!
This is the roll of tracing type paper I've been printing on...
it's from an old general store ~ I don't know what they wrapped in it.
I just lay a sheet of 8 1/2 x 11" paper on top of a torn piece and slice it out
with an exacto knife. Then stick it in the printer ~
I'm not fond of shirts with collars. I'm one hot mama, literally!
So I took an old shirt today and thought I'd slice the collar off
and give it a scoop neck ~
so much cooler and to my liking...well, it worked!!!
It's just a trash shirt I wear around the house but I'm so glad that I
was able to get that hot collar off!!!
No pics on that, it's dingy and cruddy...but cooler now!
Wishing you a wonderful and productive weekend....
I can only hope that I'm a little more productive too!!!!
hugs and love,
Dawn

What a fun post to read. Sometimes it just about the thoughts you have going on at the moment. Love the glass battery container and the oversized birds nest. Sea witch
Oh, that collection of old lace is wonderful! I too move things I love from one container to another. Sometimes things happen by chance. You are so wise to use up that roll of paper like that. Repurposing is cool. Would love to see that collar-less shirt creation of yours :) Have a great weekend.
Well I feel like the Amelda Marcus of lace if this is all you have, really only one suitcase? Tell me you have more please. Now what do you use the tracing paper for? Doesn't it curl up when you put it in the printer? I;m curious now????? xoxo-cindy
I know what you mean. My old lace is stashed in an antique wooden box at the foot of my bed, and I love going through it.
Stay cool, sweet thing. xoxo
Hi Dawn - I have a glass battery box just like that - mine is full of yarn! Its been forever since I had the chance to visit - (I just finsihed a major project today and my whole body is feeling the relief. I hope to take some time and catch up with you soon.
Those photos of the vintage lace are incredible! I love them!
Hugs,
Vicki
Love seeing the lace stash and love the idea of cutting off the collar even more. I HATE collars! I hope you will show it sometime and tell us how you did it. Yes, I have my own personal "summer" - LOL!
I so envy your ability to find vintage lace and lots of it in your neck of the woods. I rarely find any in mine, and it's not usually very vintage. Lucky lucky you. Interesting nest.
Dawn ~
You are totally making me smile ~ I am picturing your collarless shirt and how cute you are ~
Your lace is to die for gorgeous !!
Oh I did the collar off thing, too, and just put some of my homemade cute bias on the edge so it wouldn't fray out. Love it for just around the house.
What is that wonderful glass box? A battery box? Never've heard of such a thing. Hope that you find just the right size nest for it. It's amazing.
One thing I love about visiting other's posts is just all the eye candy. Thanks for my fix this morning!
I sighed when I saw your lace, I can't seem to have enough lace. Thank you for the wonderful images.
NOT lame at all...I can totally relate to all of it...especially cutting your collar off...a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do...to stay cool...and you're COOL!

Dear Dawn:
I so love the LOOK of collared shirts, however, I can no longer tolerate the FEEL of collared shirts. Like you, open necklines feel so much more comfortable.
Hope you have a restful and happy weekend.
xoxo

Dawn, I love your suitcase of lace. I have not been productive either, but have lots of new ideas that I want to try. Too bad the nest doesn't fit in the glass case, but I'll bet you find one that does! Keep cool!
Hugs,
Sherry
Ah, Dawn, "Altered Couture"! ;-) Love it! There are a lot of books out there now about remaking old clothes to our liking. This is a good idea. I'm not fond of collars either.
Keep cool!!
Hugs, Diane
I actually like the way the nest sits in the glass battery box. Oh, that lace is gorgeous. Wish I had the narrower ones for my sewing for antique dolls but I never seem to be able to find any around here. Awesome stash! I'm jealous.
