Thank you all so much for your sweet comments and ideas
for my nest project!!!
I just felt like the "diapers" hid too much of the nests ~
and that they kinda did looked like diapers too :)
And of course you know what my solution turned out to be....
WIRE!!!
I used two pieces on each nest. One to support the bottom and
the other to support the middle of the nest.
I have a wonderful, old bird book that I've been hacking up for years
and it has that "scientific" look that I love ~
I just added a blurb under each nest that looks
like a descriptive but you know I don't have a clue
what type of bird built each nest.
Bucky looks happy to have the nests on either side ~
I wanted a cabinet of curiosities look but
I'm not really sure if I've achieved that!!
But as you can see, I am a little nutty in the decorating dept ~
Have a very happy Tuesday precious friends!!!
hugs and love,
Dawn

Not at all nutty...it looks great. A wonderful solution to the dilemma and I like the added blurbs of information. Say, who is that handsome man in the mirror?
Perfect!!!
Hugs,
Judy
Love the nests on the old board...great idea and the deer head would be a fan at my house among my hunter guys! Thanx for sharing. Tiff
Great idea! Still think the diaper for the little birdies was cute!

Wonderful Dawn.
Another idea might have been that tiny chicken wire. (might have a special name, not sure)

I really like the way you used the wire. It lets the beauty of the nests be the focus.

Hi Dawn ... just to say thank you. I just checked and yes your email has come through so I will deal with your request and will be in touch again in the morning. Thank you so much dear Dawn. Best wishes, Carolyn x
Dawn, I think you've got it! These look awesome. I love the cabinet of curiosities look and am trying to achieve it on the porch with wierd tree mushrooms and found bones and things. We have such fun, don't we? Even my best friends think I'm weird. Oh, but I embrace it! Hugs,
Sherry
This is soooo cute! I love the way that you mounted them on the boards and the fact that they are hung on either side of "Bucky"!
All right - that's it! Now, I want to re-do my mantle! I LOVE the nests and your picture grouping. Very nice!
So lovely and beautifully displayed. My hubby would kill for the deer head!
Jeanine

Oh goodness - I just painted two small shutters almost exactly like yours and I didn't know what to "put on them" - if you don't mind - I'll use your idea - the nests/papers are perfect!!
Thank you for sharing!!
Love the way you changed up the nest! Happy Easter and Hugs, Marilou
