Don't you love this sweet illustration?
I ran across these pics of an altoid box I altered a while back
and thought I'd share them again....
Why?
I don't really know except that I really liked how it turned out.
And here's what I've been whittling away on ~
Between stuffing peat pots with eggs, tying bows,
keeping the laundry caught up and
making sure we all have dinner every night
it's been hard to make the time to get my studio in order.
What's so bad is that we've lived in the farm house now
since the middle of September!!!
Trying to fit all my supplies in this small room has been challenging
but I've had to be creative and use furniture in our bedroom and
in the guest room to store supplies as well.
Hello. My name is Dawn, and yes, I am a hoarder.
I ended up placing smaller pieces in front of the larger ones :)
They can easily be slid out to access the fabric.
Those two canisters on the floor in the pic below
have been spray painted and
have been spray painted and
I'm going to cover the bottoms with neat old paper....
Why I chose to tell you about those two things when
there are about one million items in the pic, I do not know! :)
I still have this wonderful trophy/urn looking silver lamp.
I want to spray paint the shade frame black and place
grommeted pieces of canvas in each of the panels,
maybe tied to the frame?
I'll get to it. Sometime. Soon too.
I'm still not finished....my sewing table is total chaos....
so is my desk and the pieces around it.
That little spice rack thing in the upper left of the photo below
is another project in the making...I washed the bottles, tossed the caps
bought some corks to fit in them ~ now to spray paint the rack and fill
the little bottles with something wonderful!
Oh yeah, another thing I hoard are peat pots!
How much stuff can YOU cram in one corner??
I've even crammed stuff in the big bird cage :)
I think I have a great idea how I can use this clippy thing.
What do you think about me hanging
all of my old cabinet cards on it??
all of my old cabinet cards on it??
My wonderful "Faith" banner gifted to me
by my sweet friend Lisa of Tarnished and Tattered...
You can see that I still have plenty of work to do but guess what?
Just this little bit of organization has gotten
me SO "in the mood" to create....
Now I just need to make the time to!!
Happy Wednesday precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Hi Dawn! Wow! Well, you've inspired me to organize my fabrics and craft supplies...and to get creative too! Your work room is really beautiful and I can see how just being in it produces creativity. It screams "talented artist at work here!"
Best Wishes and Blessings,
Amanda
Oh yes, I am so loving your studio! Plenty of places just waiting for an adventure!! So should you see my tail sticking out of a box or shelf, no mind, I'm just exploring!!!! As for placing things in front of other things....it's like that over here too. "She" tore up the office like four weeks ago and is still trying to find a place for everything. Long story, maybe I'll post about it a bit later....
Purrs!
Your favorite feline friend....

Your studio is looking fabulous! You've been very creative in finding all kinds of ways to store things. I chuckled when I saw the close-up of the trophy lamp ~ it looks like you're storing buttons in the light bulb!! : )
WoW! Thats one might studio. Not in size though but in contents LOL!
I see your point.A bit crowded, B UT so cosy and so full of inspiration. :) I wish I had jard of buttons, cabinet og linens to pick and choose from. One question. Why so many scissors? Lol!:))
I will eventually get my own little studio. So many clever storage tips to catch in your room.
Have a wonderful wonderful day.

wow your good...you look very organized...love those buttons in a bowl...
Dawn, Don't call yourself a hoarder. You are a finder of great treasures that can be reused for a wonderful purpose. You are so creative and I love your room. You are an inspiration to us folks who have a room and just can't seem to get it organized yet with all our crafty stuff. I love the way you used the old sewing machine drawers. Is that a calendar hanging on the end of the shelves next to you desk? I love it!!! Your room is just neat and cozy.
Beautiful studio Dawn, and I love your "FAITH" sign on the side of your bookcase.
Hugs,
Robin
I think it looks like a wonderful place to get lost in...very *orderly* compared to my mess...I think the clippy-thing would be awesome for cabinet cards...
Rene

Dawn~ Your ~stuff~ looks so beautiful! Love the way you have it arranged and stacked. Don't you love living in an old house? (I do!) *smile* Love and winter wishes... ~Mandy
I just love looking at your pictures. It's like looking through a magazine!
I've got a couple of Altoid tins on the side to do something similar Dawn. Well, I have the front figured out, but am trying to figure out what to use for the inside that might be that size already {playing cards?}. I'd like to do mine with photos of my granddaughter.
OMG Dawn!
You know how you've been saying looking at the pictures was making you want to create something? Well, looking at these pictures makes me want to re-do my studio! I am most definatly coming to GA so I can dig around in that 'mess'/'hoard' LOL I love it all, that clippy thing is awesome, where'd you get it? This the cabinet cards will be cool there. You have so much good stuff girl. I'm proud you got so much done, now get over here & help me. Lisa

Your so "NOT" a horder, your an Artist, now get that straight! giggle...I think if you were stranded on a desert island for 100yr. you would still have many supplies to create with. I love that!I love your studio!

sometimes the desert island sounds nice dosen't it...one with a computer of course.
Love your studio and could spend hours in there. You are not a "hoarder" you are a treasure collector! (just like me!)
Have a wonderful day!
Oh, what a gorgeous, gorgeous space! Love your place, and the Altoid box is so great- the tags inside are beautiful.
Deep sigh...A girl after my own heart! Dawn be happy that you have a studio...a REAL room in which to display your treasures...I lost mine to dear Jalina Rose...BUT she was worth it!
Hmmmmm...have you considered hanging your clippy rack from the ceiling...lol...just kidding...NO wait...I have things hanging from the ceiling in my makeshift studio in the basement...really it does work!Hugs...you are soooooo inspiring!
Loved getting a visit from ya the other day. Enjoyed the tour of your studio and I have been working to organize all my things as well. Can totally understand furniture in front of furniture. And the FAITH banner...love it! I clicked to enlarge but wanted to see more detail. Have you posted about it before and if not maybe you could feature it sometime.
Thursday Blessings ;-)
So many beautiful things and they look pretty together! Thanks for letting us take a peek into your space :-)
Dawn, every corner of your studio is as lovely as what you create. You certainly have the eye for design. It's so difficult to be organized and creative. Just when I get my art room to look just the way I want, I am knee high in a project and my organized room becomes a disaster. Your studio looks amazing.
Karen
You win the prize, Dawn! You're the Queen of Cramming Stuff into Corners! Wow! But it all looks so totally cozy and everything you need to use is right at your fingertips. Love what you've been up to lately! Beautiful!
Hugs, Diane
I always love seeing your studio and that suitcase with the door in front looks like a hobbit house. The round suitcase in the last photo!
I am also going through trying to fit everything so it can be useable. I am going from bins to cabinets.... Hard work! Hoarder, me too! I admit it! I collect everything! Every sticks and stones! I also have your apron material to make something with! Love it!
Smiles, Cyndi
My shop looks a lot like yours! I get to cleaning it up and then the mood hits me to make something and off I go and make another mess...... ! Happy creating ....... it is what I love to do!
Well, that's "hoarding" at its finest! What a beautiful space you have - I love what you share here. You do such beautiful work. It's always such a treat to peek into your world. Don't change a thing! Be blessed, my friend :)
Your studio is so charming and cozy and so full of vintage treasures! What a wonderful space to create in, Dawn!
Michelle
P.S. LOVE the trophy lamp!!!!
Dawn, I love your studio! Looks pretty organized to me. I am trying to put all of my art supplies in one room and get some order and it is a really tough job. But I am in awe because your studio looks so much nicer and more pulled together and ARTISTIC. Thanks for the inspiration!
Oh my gosh Dawn ~
Your studio looks amazing!!!
I would love love to be that organized!

Bonne journée

I LOVE your studio--and your collections--and your ideas--and let me tell you my sad tale: my son decided I had too much "stuff" and threw out oh, so many things... my worst disaster, my mother's button tin. And my jar of old buttons. And... I can still see things he pitched out. I rescued my stuff from the trash can, but then he took it again and put it all in a dumpster somewhere... It made me so upset & anxious that I still look for replacements, and this is 10 years later (which means I have bought replacements over and over and have even more stuff...). You are truly blessed with a family that does not do try to do that to you.
thank you for all the eye candy! your blog and your studio space are truly a thing of beauty! I had a fine time soaking it all in! thanks for the inspiration.
