Just a tidbit of an idea ~

As I was working on my current project, I discovered a wonderful thing! My sweet friend Vikki sent me a few pins that she has super glued tiny beads to the head, just add the drop of glue under the head and slide the tiny bead on the pin ~ they are as cute as can be!!!

Well I needed custom push pins so using the same technique, I used some old loose fake pearls and created my own sweet push pins!! Just add a tiny drop of glue right underneath the head of the pin and slide the little pearl on ~ I even used a tiny watch face, a drop of super glue on the back where the pin came out, then a tiny little bead to secure it on the back!

You may already be doing this but just discovered it myself and had to share!!! Hope you have a great Thursday ~ xxoo, Dawn

PS. Do you have a better glue to use than super glue? Sometimes it's not so super :)

i LOVE super glue gel!!! i use it ALL the time...sometimes i let it sit a minute before attaching things so that is isn't smearing all over, is that your issue with it? the pins are a wonderful idea, thanks for sharing...the one with the watch face is extra stunning!!!

I love your push pin inspiration. I love making things and I have used lots of different glues and pastes. I haven't tried Super gel glue yet, but I will now. Karen

hi sweetie! love, love, love the watch face! it is soo fun to add the ol' timey pearls, crystals, etc to make the creations x*tra special, even design things from sculpty ~ stars, hearts, snopeople for seasonal items. to use on journals as the closure, and pinkeeps. i use the crafters pick, ultimate glue. drys clear, and is pretty tacky, so seems to stick fast. much love and blessings, m'dear sweet friend. vikki ooxxxo

I just erased the 'tacks' from my shopping list, this is a much sweeter idea and leave it to Vikki to come up with that one, I am gonna miss her great stuff as we close the shop, but I am still trying to talk her into a blog and an etsy store...too much talent to sit at home and not let you guys see it...I can visit her booth any time at a local mall.
Have fun with yer toys...NUT

I've been thinking about making some of those - I've got boxes of beads from fob making - I just can't seem to resist the bead isle at Hobby Lobby! One of the things I hadn't figured out yet was what type of glue to use. The other is where to find the time to actually sit and make them!
I do have 'jeweled' thumb tacks on my bulletin board - I hot-glued 'jewels' onto thumb tacks. I have no idea times I burned my fingers in the process!

Thanks for the neat idea!

Years ago, my mom made jewelry attaching neat buttons to earring posts. She used E-6000.

Love, love, love this idea! Thanks for sharing it! I am not a super glue fan. Every time I use it, it leaves a bit of a white film if not careful. I do love Aleenes's Clear Gel Tacky Glue, it goes on clear, dries clear and strong. For Fabric glue I love Beacon Adhesives brand FABRI-TAC, permanent adhesive. It grabs fast and dries quickly. It bonds fabric, lace, leather, and trim. It is also washable and dries crystal clear. I sound like a glue commercial!

I just got a copy of Romantic Country!!!! I looked a the table of contents to try and guess where you would be, I guessed correctly! I am so excited to see you featured!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! Would you have ever thought that your work was going to be published in such fantastic publications? Keep creating!

Love this idea--I was going to say try using Alene's Super Tacky or Diamond Glaze, but it looks like you got many other great suggestions about what to use. I'll have to try Alene's Jewel-It. I hadn't heard of that kind! Have a great rest of the week! ~Jann

Just don't glue yourself to the pins! I thoought of you last Saturday - I saw small speckled eggs glued to push pins for a darling corkboard! Asked about them at the front desk - they said they aren't sold seperately! Darn!
Your are lovely! I LOVE all your clock faces!

I thought of a song for you, it's a oldie, but somehow it came to mind."Rings & Things & buttons & bows"
What a "Super" idea...not funny. I have no idea what glue to us. The last time I used Super Glue it got on two of my fingers, will when I got the glue off, skin came too. I haven't bought any since...I am just a bundle of cheer!
Love ya, Mary

Thank you for reminding me of this - it is such a sweet touch , I love it! My mom used to make ornaments with various beads on pins , pushed into fabric covered Styrofoam balls - do you remember those?!

Dawn, I ADORE this idea! I really love the watch face.

I use this glue in jewelry making, and it's great for those tiny glue drop needs. It's called Vigor "Super" Glue. I ordered it here: http://www.firemountaingems.com/details.asp?PN=H201951TL
