Isn't it amazing the things that inspire you? Simple things sometimes. My son Brad gave me the most beautiful box, in the shape of a book with gorgeous egg prints on it . . . you KNOW I love this!!! I plan on creating an assemblage inside ~

But I am at Home Depot running around like a chicken looking for the flux that I saw Laurie recommend and saw a simple bag of cheese cloth. I grabbed it. Why?? I have absolutely no idea, but I do know this....in the future I will need the beautiful loose weave of this fabric and be so very glad that I have it!!! Crazy, I know.

Magazines always inspire me. They are chock full of beautiful ideas that you can make your own. Pictures that take your breath away and rooms that you'd love to duplicate ~ magazines are always a top priority for me ~ but I can think of worse things to be addicted to!

Items you've gathered, display them so you can view them.....they will inspire you as well ~

Sweet gifts from friends ~ their imagination inspires me as well . . .

Simple things that have no rhyme or reason ~ do not match, but speak volumes . . . these are the things that inspire us. . . use them to call your muse ~

xxoo, Dawn

What a nice son to buy you that beautiful box. Your blog is full of beautiful eye candy as usual. I totally understand your attraction to the cheesecloth...i love it too! I've seen people wrap it around a lemon so when you squeeze it the seeds don't come out. I don't care about the seeds but I like the way it looked on the lemon! CRAZY huh?

You have a knack of putting ANYTHING together and make it look like a work of art!! Even all these "assemblages" on your shelves!!
Neat box! Great son!

Dawn,
Your pics are just stunning! I love the variety of the items you've assembled into such lovely displays. I think my favorites are the bottom 2 photos.
And of course I'd buy cheese cloth from Home Depot!! A girl just never knows when she's going to need a yard or two of cheese cloth. (Seriously, I've seen it in a magazine used as an ethereal, wispy, romantic window treatment!)

You'll love the cheesecloth. I don't know why I say that because all I use mine for is making yogurt cheese. LOL!

Love the photos and the simple things that create a beautiful sense of peace and belonging in this world. Thank you!

Hope that you're enjoying a great Sunday!

'Use them to call your muse'...I love that statement, how true. Our treasures no matter how small are gifts from the universe to inspire our bliss. The box from your son is a treasure and has inspired me to do another work of art too.
Peace,

The box is lovely, and, although empty now, so full, at the same time, of promise! I want you to know that you inspire me so much, Dawn, and whenever I feel sad and I'm missing my beautiful "nest" (our home in Idaho is for sale and we're living in California), all I have to do is come and visit you at your blog and I feel so much better, full of hope. Take care and have a wonderful Sunday! ~Jann

You've trained your son very well!

Love your "inspire" pictures- they did inspire me, and I think we like the same things- muted colors, things that show their age, well loved keepsakes...

My goodness, you have such a wonderful loving family. Your son and husband seem to really give a lot of thought to who you are, and what you love to have. The box you son just gave you is beautiful. Something to cherish and love for many many years.
I look forward to seeing what you do with it.

Dawn - I think that doll kinda looks like you!! Cheese cloth has a rather ethereal feel and look - seems like a perfect medium for one of your artworks. Can't wait to see what you do.

Cheesecloth is useful in the kitchen; for making spice bags for pickles, draining home-made cheese and yogurt, straining chicken stock.

If you still polish furniture the old fashioned way it does a good job of applying wax.

I just love looking at the beauty you collect...you honestly should have a magazine!

You definitely need that cheesecloth!! I recently read an article about dyeing cheesecloth in a variety of pastel shades.

I think it was a Somerset magazine. I say "I think" because I also have an addiction to magazines. LOL!
