Tuesday was a busy day ~ I gathered my goods from Antique Griffin and moved out of my tiny space. Sales are off terribly and I find that I would rather work on my artwork than hunt for antiques that may or may not sell.
After I left Antique Griffin I headed to another wonderful antique store down the road, From Out of the Past Antiques. Come to find out, they are closing their doors in a few weeks. The economy is hurting these small stores so much. Plus the big box stores have such a draw for everyone's money. Please remember to stop in your small local shops when you need a gift or something special for that empty spot in your home. If we don't shop them, they will surely vanish!!
I bought these beautiful French postcards at From Out of the Past today and just love them. I wanted to share them with you as well. Just click to enlarge, right click, slide down to "save picture as" and left click to save to your computer.
Thank you so very much for all of the wonderful comments on my giveaway ~ I just wish I could hug each and every one of you!! xxoo, Dawn

Hallo Dawn, thanks a lot for the beautifull old Paris.
My daughters father is french, so you understand I have a special feeling for all french, and are collecting to do something nice with the Paris theme. A lovely gift.

Thanks for giving is beautiful images again! I totally agree with your call to shop more often at the little/local store. Though in Europe were not having a recession (yet,) it's always good to support the small where and whenever you can. Small stores can always use our support. I just don't want to be responsible for the vanishing of these cute family businesses.
Have a nice day!

Hi Dawn. Lovely images... I loved the art work you did on the silver tray with the tower on a earlier post.... I have some border this will work well with. Oh my.. another project....Wishing you a peaceful day and may you enjoy all you love to do....
Dawn, you are so sweet for sharing, these pictures are wonderful. Thank you.
I know what you mean about shops closing due to the economy. It is just awful. It is so sad when I see a great shop closing and a chain opening.
Well, have a great day and thanks again.

Hi Dawn, the postcards are beautiful. It is sad to see small shops close down. So much has closed down in the town nearest to us, due to economy. Enjoy working on your beautiful things, blessings, Kathleen
Dawn, thank you for sharing the postcards with us.
It is sad to see so many small shops closing. They have a charm that can't be replaced.
Thanks again for the cards and all the images you share with us.
Beautiful cards, Dawn! Thank you for sharing them.
We've noticed several small shops closing, too. Sad to see them go.

Hi Dawn,
Well girl at least you gave it one last effort. I am definitely feeling the pinch at my store, especially having just moved to a new location. But I know with all the loyal people out who appreciate the charm of a small business, we will survive. Thanks for putting it out there!

Thank you for sharing those beautiful post-cards. I'm saving them in the archives for the day when I'll actually be able to be creative again!
I prefer shopping at the little independently owned stores! Their prices may be a few pennies higher, but they still practice the lost art of customer service -something that is greatly lacking in the "big box" society we live in.
Blessings!
Liz
Hi Dawn!
Thank you so much for the images! The originals must be absolutely fantastic! What a treasure!
thank you!

Oh I plan to keep right on shopping at my local flea market, etc. The most amazing one-of-a-kind gifts to be found. Let's pray this economy turns around soon.
your postcards are indeed beautiful....
Big box stores! Don't even get me started!
Dawn, the postcards are lovely. thank you so much for sharing them.

Dawn, you're so right -- the smaller shops do lose out when the economy shifts. The thing is, we find so much more unique and special treats when we shop small.
These postcards are delightful, and thank you so much for sharing them!
These are beautiful vintage looking postcards. Nice collection.
Those are beautiful postcards ! What fun finds ~ I think the best places to go are the little shops ~ I hate to see them not doing well ~
xoxo,
Lori

Thank you so much!!!
Dawn you sre so right about small shops! We are a 3rd generation lumberyard and hardware store and Home Depot has hurt small lumberyards and hardware stores like us! It is only by the grace of God that we are still around! Thanks for encouraging people to shop the small stores!
It is so important to remember the little shops! It's so sad to me when they have to close...they offer a charm and uniqueness that the chains never could :(
Thanks for sharing your gorgeous postcards! I love them!
You are so thouoghtful - as always, my friend! Thank you, Thank you, Thank YOU!
Colleen
Being that I love to sketch about as much as I love to do anything, I am a sucker for anything vintage that looks "sketched" like these lovely postcards. They are too gorgeous. Thanks for sharing with us!
Blessings,
Christi
