Love, fairy shoes and more love~

Don't you love great mail? Bills, grocery ads, more bills...ughhh....
but getting one of these in the mail is just the BEST!!

It's the Sept/Oct issue of Somerset Studio and
should be hitting the newstands September 1st.

Do you remember when I made this artwork in an old luggage lid?
This piece is called "The Greatest of These is Love"
I sent it on to Stampington and ended up writing an article to go with it ~
it's featured in the Melange section of this issue....
Which has TONS of amazing Halloween artwork
and of course other goodies too ~

This is a neat article about Soldering without Glass ~
I'm looking forward to reading this one :)

And what an honor to be featured in the same issue as Lisa Kaus ~
her work is just wonderful!

This issue will be at major book stores the first of September
if you'd like to get one!

On to fairy goodness....I started working on the fairy shoes. I wanted them to have a natural look to them so I had these botanicals (normally used in potpourri mixes) so I thought, why not trim off some of the frilly edges and use the gel medium to collage it on....I'm really pleased with the effect too! I have a few more spots to cover now that I see the photographs ~

Next, the outside....I'm going to try using these leaves
(also used in dried potpourri) ~
We'll see how that looks!!!

And lastly, more love.....daddy love ~
Our oldest son, Brent and his precious daughter Clara...
just before going to bed.

Thank you always for stopping by to see me.
I treasure your comments and appreciate you
more than you'll ever know ~

Have a wonderful Tuesday sweet friends,
xxoo, Dawn

SO, did you make the shoes themselves? Are they paper mache? Thea are going to be FAbuLouS!

Little Clara and her Daddy - Her fingers may be tiny but I can see they've wrapped themselves around her Daddy :-)

You go girl. Can't wait for that issue- I love Halloween stuff. Your shoes are cute. Are you wetting or softening the leaves before using? I was wondering how you keep them from crumbling?? I almost have my studio/office up to speed and I'm looking forward to getting back to crafting. Joy

Oh Dawn, I got my copy of Somerset Studio yesterday and was flipping through it last night. I got to the page you were on and was looking at the photo, thinking "you know that looks like something Dawn Edmondson would make". Then I looked at the article and saw that it WAS you making it! I could tell at a glance. Love it, as usual. QueenMarcy
