Loving this old place ~

I do love this old farmhouse.
I've always dreamed of living in an old home...with its creaky floors,
uneven trim and all the other wonderful old characteristics.
The living room is cold in the winter,
but the fireplace works so great
you don't even notice!
My studio dips a little in the center
but I've gotten used to it.
I hope the weight of my hoard stash isn't the cause!

Our son Brad came by this past weekend and during the only five minutes
of sunshine we've had in about five days he took these wonderful photos ~
You know I have to share them with you!

The photo below was taken behind the house...see our bare pecan trees??

I haven't shared much here about our chickens lately,
mostly because we had a few tragedies.
The neighbors dog got into our back yard
and killed two of the four we had left
and the remaining two were bitten but survived.
They've kinda been through the ringer but are hanging on!!
This one's Big Red ~

Pecans are still on the ground, even though we've picked up tons!

Have a beautiful Tuesday sweet friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Great photos! Looks like a beautiful farm. I like that you still have trains that go by. Our small town pulled up the tracks a few yrs ago. Gotta love the character in our older homes. Can't buy that in a store. Have a great Tuesday as well!

Dawn, What a gorgeous place you have. I love all the little quirks that go with an old house. Your son did a great job with photographing things. Do you think he has missed his calling (unless he IS a photographer?:>)... Poor chickens! xo Diana

Beautiful! I, too, love old homes, and am so grateful to find someone else who appreciates the character and comfort of squeaky floors and all the other quirks that truly do give a house its own personality!
Loved seeing the chickens - sorry about the loss of their companions!

Oh, Dawn, these photos are beautiful and so very peaceful, they calm the heart and inspire ones' imagination. Makes me want to 'go home', somehow. Maybe home for us would be an old beloved farmhouse too. ^.^ Thank you for sharing!

Country living at its best! Oh your son takes some great photos. I could almost see the engineer waving. Ohhh, so sad what happened to the chickens. Hope that spring will find that you're replenishing your flock.

My Old Historic House, shakes when you walk. The floors are off so much I have to shim all the furniture. When I drop something it rolls across the floors. Sometimes doors won't stay shut and other times they won't open. But, I love it. Richard

Dawn, what great pictures! I love the padlock on the shed the best. I'm so sorry about your chickens. We had plenty of disasters when we had chickens here: coyotes, foxes and raccoons, and fishers! There was too much murder for me! And to see my brother run down the cellar stairs with a shotgun in the night!
I'd rather have my 2 inside cats.
Your farm looks lovely!
Hugs,
Sherry

It looks like a dream. Enjoy your wonderful house - chickens, pecans, and saggy floors and all. Thanks for letting us visit.

Lovely farm! When I was in high school my parents bought a century home complete with barn, chicken coop, and outhouse. They restored the home. My dresser if placed on the wrong wall would slide clear across the room. My mother decorated the Parlor with antique Victorian furniture. I had my wedding there. Lovely memories. Thank you for bringing them up.
