I've been itching to create something nature inspired....
I collect all sorts of boxes, drawers, etc. to hold assemblages
and this one was meant to be a cabinet of curiosities.
I'm showing you the beginning stages as I hope to fill each cubby
with wonderful nature specimens!
I have tiny bottles that can hold treasures....several teeny nests from
which I will choose, maybe some gorgeous river birch bark
and patches of moss tucked in....
I will continue to age the cabinet too
as it is way too newish looking for me :)
We'll see where it takes me!
One other thing.
There's no glass in the door ~ it was missing when I found it.
I've been thinking of adding my own wired grid to it.
We'll see....
What are you up to today?
I hope you're able to squeeze a little creativity into your day ~
Thank you so much for stopping by here to see what I'm doing...
you know I love it when you do!
Wishing you a wonderful Friday dear friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

Very interesting.. I like your idea of using a wire grid instead of glass. I'll be watching its progress.
You are so clever and talented with your creations, I am sure this will be fabulous. Can't wait to see the completed cabinet!
Looks good so far!! I'm sure it will be outstanding, as anything you do always is. Would love eto see the finished product!
It looks lovely so far, Dawn! I love the papers you've used on the back. I'll look forward to seeing you fill it with your little treasures.
Dawn,
This is going to be lovely and so...YOU! I can't wait to see if filled up...I love cubbies!
Have a great weekend!

I love this project Dawn...I, too have all sorts of boxes and cubbies and drawers and several Cabinets of Curiosities...but they don't seem to have the polish and finished look that your assemblages have! You've inspired me to do something creative here today...a rare rainy day in Florida! Have a great weekend!
Laura :)
It's going to be beautiful. I can tell already. I like the no glass look as is.
I hope to find some time for the sewing room today...it needs cleaning again for one thing.
Looks great Dawn. Can´t wait to see the finished result.
Have a wonderful weekend
oh i just ADORE this dawn!I also love your idea of adding some wire in place of the glass.. Sweet! ;)
I am taking a break to visit my sweet friend Dawn! Still working on the studio, almost there! Can't wait to see your specimen cabinet, sounds wonderful. Have a great weekend!
Beautiful!!!! Can't wait to see it with YOUR touch to finish it off! Have a blessed weekend, HUGS!
I have a similar cabinet with glass that is just sitting unused. It's a dark wood. If I lived close enough, I would mail it to you and have you make it over form me. I love what you've done so far and know that the end result is gonna be fabulous. Your previous post was definitely filled with so many beautiful things. Very inspiring! Wishing you a wonderful weekend. Tammy
Lovely, I am working on something similar, it is a shadow box but it's small. I love your cabinet!! I wonder if it's still possible to get a glass piece made by hand so it looks old. I have a step back hutch with the original glass in it. The glass is wavy. I also like the wire idea.
Dawn, I think chicken wire would be great. I love how you repurposed the piece. Funky and fun!!
As for me, I want to finish some things here, but have the flu. Dang flu - hate to be held down. My project is an old frame, painted with AS chalk paint, Duck Egg, and attaching some super cool chicken wire to the back. It'll go into the shop I sell at.
Have a creative weekend!!
Becky
Dawn,
That is such a sweet cabinet! I can't wait to see what you do with it. Love the beginning! You got me thinking...
Have a great week!
Hugs,
Sherry
Love this sweet cabinet and also what you are making of it! Enjoy the process...xo
Looks great Dawn! Did the piece come with the sections or did you add these? I've always wondered, do you have a wall in your house to hang all these wonderful things you make? Is there a wall of Dawn? I'm sure it will look just beautiful!xoxo-cindy
you're going to have a lot of fun with all these little cubbies--you will fill them with some kind of wonderment, as you always do!
i'm trying to get inspired by cleaning off the piles and piles on my desk. i'm shocked by all the bits and bobs i've unearthed! i need to start a project like yours and finally USE all that I hoard away.
have a great week,
maggie
Looking good Dawn! I love those curio boxes and can't wait to see what you create!
