Lost n' found ~

Another sunset to share with you....
we've been having so many gorgeous evenings lately!!!

So what was lost then found???
My pressed flowers!!!
We've lived here almost a year now (the end of Sept.)
and I stashed it away and haven't been able to find it this whole time ~
Finally, today I ran across it!!

Look at how teeny this fern is...I placed a pin beside it to give you an idea of it's size.

These are African violet blooms....I know I've shown you these before ~

Here's a variety of flowers, nothing fancy ~

I love the texture of these....

I picked a hydrangea bloom and wanted to see if I could press pieces of it...

The color is fading on these but I love them so ~

Do you know what this is? I found it growing in our flower bed!
It's a little meaty to press but I have to try ~

My wonderful and fabulous flower press...a big ol' yellow pages book!

Have you heard of this store?
Our son Brad just loves it and he found me a few treasures here this past weekend ~

I guess their Spring items are on clearance and he bought me this set of three nests!!!
They are pine needles held together with something...I just love them ~

And what am I doing in the studio right now?
I've had a few commission jobs to work on
and one is a sweet little charm
for a friend ~
I love using these microscope slides but they are very tricky to cut smaller...

The charm holds an old photograph of Pam's father ~
she lost him several years ago but wanted to have charm
to wear in memory of him...
I'm a little rusty with the soldering but it came out pretty good!
It's only 1" x 1", teeny, right? :)

I need to get these projects completed (finishing my flea bag is next!)
so I can get the studio cleaned up for
Where Blogger's Create this Friday!!!!

I hope you have a wonderful Tuesday precious friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

I cannot believe you have been there almost a year! Seems like just a month or two ago you were moving!
That little tiny fern is incredible!!

And, what is a 'flea' bag?
A big bag for the flea market??

Dawn, I believe the salmon/coral beauty is a gladiola. I'm glad you found your other pressed pretties! :) Oh, and now I'm gonna have to see if there's a "west elm" anywhere near me! ;) xo

This post gives me hope that I may one day find the things that I am looking for. Apparently, a few family members are looking for items, too, so there's a long list of lost around here. What a sweet way to remember a loved one with a little charm like that. Very dear.

Whatcha gonna do with those pressed flowers? I have book full of them from years ago when my son had to do a nature project in school on wildflowers.

Ohhh Dawn, I love your botanicals! Just love the way they look layed out on that brown craft paper. Just awesome! Let me know how the hydrangea works out. Your kids sure know what their Mama loves. Those sweet nests will be strapped to a canvas soon! Lisa

Hello sweet Dawn! Wow, it's been almost a year already since you moved? Oh my goodness. I was going to suggest to you, using a good old phone book, but I see you already do. My mother in law taught me that trick. She also used tissues for the softer more delicate ones, instead of the paper towels. You have a nice selection.

Hi Dawn, I forgot about pressing flowers! Somewhere I even have a little flower press. Thank you for you wonderful blog and an idea for something creative to do today. Love Louise

Hi Dawn the red flower is a "gladiola" a favorite of mine - (my grandpop cultivated them and would make HUGE baskets on the tables at his Inn)
The nests are made of pine straw...I sell them at the store...I love the odd shape of each one...no two are alike!!
Somewhere I have pressed flowers from last year...forgot all about them...now the search is on - and I used old Encyclopedias...!!!

First off, glad to see after your day 'off', that you're inspired again! We sometimes have to 'step away from the art room' for a little rest the brain time:) For me, it's when I start having 'hamster moments', I have to leave the art room immediately! (Grin).
Now, I LOVE your idea of soldered botanicals! Will you be listing them in your Etsy shop? The flowers you found again, the colours were lovely! I'll never look at an old phone book quite the same again:) by the way, regards to Ellie:) Loved the post of her baby pictures:)
Cheers Dawn!
