Welcoming the new year!

This ol' blog of mine has been a wonderful way to share
my journey through life.
Artistically as well as personally. And I still love it!

This year begins the fifteenth year of sharing my love
of making and trying new things.

I may not post as often as I did in the very beginning
but still love sharing!!

After Christmas I had a little bit of birthday money.
So I had a day out filled with shopping and exploring!
I discovered a neat book at Hobby Lobby that's
actually a watercolor workbook!

You simply paint the projects right inside the book!
It helps you get the feel of the watercolors and
how to manipulate them.

Here's the cover:
(PS. I saw it at Michael's and on Amazon too!)

Yes, it looks quite elementary but it really DID
give me the courage to start!

My first project was this pair of acorns.
I had some cruddy tube paints that I'd had for years
from Ross but they hadn't been opened so they were still good.
Well, as good as they could be for $2.99 for the set!
I really, really enjoyed it!!!

The projects are lightly printed on the left side and the right side
of the book describes how to go about painting it.

It wasn't long until I wanted nicer paints and I found a few sets
that had great reviews on Amazon.

I continued working on the projects but really wanted
to go rogue and sketch my own designs!!

The small postcard size paintings are my first few attempts.
I tend to lean towards the loose style of painting rather
than the perfection of details.
(This gives me a little relaxing room!)

This sweet cow is my first go at a large watercolor!
It's not perfect by any means but what fun!!!

I even attempted a cute little bookmark!

I've rejected my poor little studio for so long now.
Moving, stress, Covid, stress, moving again
then losing my precious mama,
it all has taken a heavy toll on my heart.

BUT...
with starting something new and
with this brand new year,
I'm really excited!!!

I pray you and yours are doing so good, staying healthy and cozy too!
Happy New Year sweeties...just a little late!!!

Hugs and love,
Dawn

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

I've been absent and I know it.
Just simply dealing with grief as I've never have had to.

I still have to pause and thank you all for visiting me here!

Wishing each and every one of you,
my dear friends and precious family,
a most wonderful and blessed Christmas
filled with love and the knowledge
that our Saviour Jesus Christ
was born on Christmas day to live
and then sacrificed His life
so that we all may live with Him
in Heaven forevermore ~

Merry Christmas to you all!

Hugs and love dear friends,

Happy fall dear friends!

I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted!
Time flies no matter what you're doing!

It's been busy around here since I last posted.
I pulled out some antique lace and was playing
with a paperweight in these pics.

Well, the pickets on the front porch of the studio
were really janky and not spaced well.
My dad took them all off and replaced them a few weeks ago!
They now match the spacing of the stairs too.

Then I had to add a few porch curtains and love how they look!!

Next, I hand painted a new sign to add to the top of the stairs!

In between all of this, I had to go through all of my mama's things
as we planned to have a yard sale the beginning of October.

This was not an easy task and wouldn't wish it on anyone.
It was like saying goodbye all over again.
We made it through though and donated what was left.
I even cried at the thrift store.

We also had brand new double-pane windows installed in our new home!!!
They are absolutely wonderful!

I took several small pieces of artwork to a wonderful antique store
here in our new hometown, Lazy J Mercantile!

There were five pieces and now there's only ONE left!!!
WOO HOO!!!!
It's so cool when someone loves what you make!

AND....of course I couldn't leave empty handed when I picked up my first check!!!
Look at this gorgeous bridal crown, antique muslin bag
and a pair of rhinestone shoe clips I bought...
I SO LOVE IT ALL!!!

It's now the middle of October and
the weather is finally cooling here in Georgia.

Fall has always been my favorite time of the year.
Cool breezes and gorgeous blue skies always make me smile!!!!

Thank you always for stopping by sweet friends,

Much love,
Dawn
