Back to playing again...

After being so rudely interrupted by a little thing called diverticulitis!
And it wasn't such a "little" thing...OMYgoodness ~
it's quite painful but thank goodness it was diagnosed quickly
and the meds have worked wonders in just a few days.
Thank you all so much for your well wishes!!

I wanted to share my most recent project with you ~
Last Christmas I made several adorned bottle brush trees.
Well, I still have a good many left that had already been bleached
just waiting to be painted and decorated ~

I don't know why I love painting them, but I do.
On these three trees, I used a Martha Stewart white perle craft paint...
it has a subtle shimmer to it.
I like to get down the dark roots and really lay the paint on.

Next, I used a little flecking tool that I have (but you could use a toothbrush)
to fluff the bristles back up as sometimes they would get matted with the paint.

Wow, you'd think I'm working for Martha BUT I love these two glitters
and while the paint was still wet, I held the tree over a plate and
sprinkled on both glitters pretty heavily.
Don't worry, you can save the overflow in a separate container!

Here's my little tree, you really can't see all the glitter on it but it's beautiful!

Next, I added a few pretty pearls (from old pearl necklaces found at the thrift!)
using my favorite "go-to" glue, Fabri-tac...
no, I'm not working for them either but just love the stuff!

Then, I ran across these wonderful, tarnished silver
sugar and creamers from my stash
and thought they would be sweet containers for my little forest!

I'm still going to adorn them a wee bit more...
maybe an old earring for a tree topper, a tiny banner and of course
I may try to work in a bundle of seam binding on the handles, we'll see!

All three soon to be placed in my Etsy shop ~

WOW, time is whizzing by oh-so-fast!!!!
I have so many things I want to make and do before Christmas...
Who has time to be sick???
Good health truly is such a treasure ~

I'm linking up with Becky of Timewashed Blissful Whites Wednesday!

Wishing you a beautiful Thursday precious friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

I'm glad that you are vertical again! And I'm glad that you went to the doctor because that stuff really isn't fun and this is the 21st Century and there are healing meds.

These little trees are delightful. (You certainly could work for Martha, though you could have an empire of your own! =D )

I'm glad you are feeling better, Dawn! Your trees are gorgeous. It looks like the paint makes a big difference in how they turn out. The glitter, too, of course! I only bleached trees for the first time last year. I haven't had a chance to do anymore yet this year, but I will have to try your technique.

Love your trees!!! I made a few bottle brush trees a couple of weeks ago. They are fun!

My hubby was just diagnosed with diverticulitis this past summer. He has to be careful not to eat anything with little seeds.

Hope all is well with you now!

Blessings and Happy Holidays!

Oh, no, Dawn! I'm glad that your flare-up of diverticulitis was caught in time and you didn't end up in the hospital!

I absolutely adore your little trees... they really do look prettier embellished with paint and glitter than left in a plain, old bleached state.♥ I love your use of the sugar bowls and creamers, too!

Stay well, dearest Dawn! xoxo

So glad you are feeling better, my Sister was diagnosed with Diverticulitis 3 years ago, 6 surgeries later she has an open wound the size of a fist on her stomach that will not heal, she had a colostomy and then had it reversed, then ruptures...etc. It just keeps getting worse! Health is something we just cannot take for granted and it is a blessing we need to remind ourselves of everyday! On to something good...your trees are beautiful, never thought to paint them like that, it adds so much! I have jars of pearls that I can't think of a better use for. Thanks for sharing and I pray for your continued good health!

Oh my... I'm so sorry to hear you've been feeling puny.. but glad you're doing better. You're right, there is just no time to be sick. :-)

Love your little trees....but as always, LOVE everything you make. Naturally, I sold my little silverplate creamer and sugar at my garage sale. See... this is why I should keep EVERYTHING!

Can you tell me about what you used for the white base on your trees? It appears to fit your silver pieces perfectly so I assume the trees did not come with that large white base. I have bought trees, variety of containers and glitter, but I am at a loss as to what to use to fill up the space in the containers and what you stick the trees into for a base so they stand straight.
