An old friend . . .

That's what this wonderful project is ~
an old friend to me.
I created my very first baby shoe pincushion
when I first started my blog
and have always loved them!
I even made a tutorial for them too!
They also were my very first published artwork ~

I had a special request to create one for a customer and did just that.....
here's the little sweetie:

I dig in my button jars to find just the right jewels to adorn these.

Simple in design but that's the point....not to be too much, you know?

Makes me love my buttons all the more ~ just to have something to choose from.

So while I'm creating this little guy, I ran across a few more lost treasures....

Lone little baby shoes I've collected just waiting to be something more than an afterthought ~

These little treasures are lost and forgotten ~
isn't it wonderful that we can transform them into something pretty?

I have such a love for cast offs ~
I just can't help myself....

Wishing you a wonderful Thursday precious friends!
hugs and love,
Dawn

I have alwayes loved your pincussions dearest Dawn, I love their simplicity, in soft whites, and the fabric`s used ,and highlighted by the most beautiful old buttons and lovely seambindings.
and the little lonely shoes you have collected are the cutest ones-and would have come home with me, also.
Such a beautiful post ,precious friend.
-Today we are covered in snow- beautiful and COLD.
Love and hugs-

So sweet. I have just found my stash of baby shoes and since I have your tutorial, I think that I'll make one for both my daughter and my daughter-in-law. Your love of cast-offs shows your gentle spirit.

An oldie but always a goodie. Love the trim around the top. And your line of shoes reminds me of a round mirror I saw at Round Top with lost souls placed all along the frame.
Blissful Blessings ;-)

Dear Dawn,

My heart did a little dance when I saw your sweet message. Circumstances in the last year were challenging. I'm hoping this new year will bring more stability and peace. I feel the same way about those sweet baby shoes. I adore the one with satin ruffles. It is wonderful to come back to something we love to create. Your baby shoe touched my heart.

Hugs!

I just adore your art sweet Dawn!!! Every time I see one of your pieces...it makes me smile! i really identified with your last post of your pretty lace. I was making some collages today and whenever I would have a teeny piece left from a project I would place it in a little scrap jar. I can't throw any of the precious vintage lace away. I will use them up on something.
sending love...
