No longer forgotten....

Precious little shoes....worn by a little girl's favorite doll or
maybe silk ruffled booties that have once been on a chubby baby's foot ~
I love them all!
If they're dirty, scuffed or even smashed flat....it doesn't matter.
They can still be brought back to life.
It just takes a little tender loving care and these little forgotten
treasures can have a new purpose and make someone smile again!

I've been a busy bee the last few days....here's what I've been up to:

A tiny doll shoe transformed into a pincushion ~

Just add a few embellishments...tiny bits of antique lace...and pretty trims ~
it doesn't take much to turn something ordinary into something precious!

Here's is what I've been up to sweet friends ~

All are now in my little Etsy shop!

I didn't really have any pretty pins to place in these pincushions
so I had to make a few ~
I've shared this with you before but it's so easy, I had to share it again.
The supplies are simple....straight pins, a few old pearls, tiny beads and a little jewelry glue!

I usually prepare a few...feed the beads or pearls onto the pins, only about halfway ~

Then put a little jewelry glue near the head and down the pin about a quarter of an inch.
Slide the beads up to the head and wipe off any excess glue that blobs out onto
a piece of scrap paper....then just lay the pins down to dry for awhile.

My pretty little pins are now ready for a pincushion!

Easy, huh?

Take the ordinary and transform it into something extraordinary!

Have a beautiful Wednesday precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

These are wonderful, Dawn! I want to say "adorable", but they are also so pretty, so I guess they are "pretty adorable"! : ) Thanks for the tip on the pins. I have looked for these and never seem to find them in the craft stores, although, I think I did see some at Hobby Lobby. I have a bunch of creamers and sugar bowls that I want to make into pincushions so I will definitely try making my own pins.

What a lot of history is represented there. Wouldn't it be interesting to see a timeline of each shoe? From here to there? I'm a strange thinker. I know this...it's lovely to see them all lined up and ready to move on to their next phase.

I was going to ask where you got your pretty pins...then you answered the question! The perfect solution...but one question more..."How do you keep from sticking your fingers together with the jewelry glue?" I have some, but I've been scared of it! Help me overcome my fear. =D

They look so precious

I made one for myself a couple years ago amd my 7 year old granson came in the studio and seen it and tore it all apart, said gradma that show was not right. He didn't like the baby shoe made in a pin cushion. I was a little upset when I noticed what he was doing LOL

Dawn, you are amazing!
Such a gift to be able to take something simple and do such a transformation. Thank you for sharing with us.
I have a pair of my son's baby shoes (he is all grown up now)and am going to make an attempt to do a pincushion with them.
They wont be as fabulous as yours, however.

I absolutely love your blog. You create such wonderful things. I adore the baby shoes and doll shoe pincushions. I would love to know where you get the used baby shoes. I live in a small town in a rural area of Kentucky and we only have 1 Goodwill store. So far, I have only been able to find one pair. Can U help?
