OK, I'll admit it...I'm a gatherer ~

Like you didn't already know this!!!
If you've read my blog for any length of time
you'll find that I'm always, always hunting and gathering
goodies and supplies to stock my studio.
ESPECIALLY for a great price.
I don't think being an artist has to be expensive, do you?

Here's my recent gathering of goodies ~
The eyelash yarn was on sale at Hobby Lobby ~
I love using things like this!
The moss collection (yes, I paid for moss!)
was at Michael's, but just look at it!!!
The burlap garland was at Michael's too ~
I don't know what I'll use it for but that doesn't really matter...
The ruffled ribbon was half price at Hobby Lobby ~
and again, I don't know what I'll use it for, but it's wonderful!!

Here are few close-ups:

You can see why they call this eyelash yarn ~
I found it HERE online...

Isn't this ribbon beautiful?
You can find it HERE online too!

The wire cloche was a clearance item at Hobby Lobby and had
a very large bent cross on top ~ so I removed the damaged
piece and added my very own sparkly embellishment!
I ended up using E6000 glue for this ~

A few little guys in the process of getting finished...
(I promise I'm not going to say the "p" word again)

And on my relentless quest to easily dye this ugly gray Spanish moss...
look what I had on hand and just thought of it!!!
Walnut spray ink!
I only use it as an accent under the nests
but want the color to be pretty.

So that was my wild Monday.... today I keep little miss Clara and plan on
taking her into the studio to play in her playpen while I create!!!

OH, I almost forgot to tell you this incredible new jewelry
component line that Michaels had!!!
You can read more about it HERE and HERE....
The charms and pendants look handmade!!!!

I hope you have a great Tuesday precious friends!!!!
hugs and love,
from a die-hard gatherer...
Dawn

Dearest Dawn,

Oh and what a "gatherer" you are!

There is the theory that the human race began as hunter gatherers in order to sustain life. This same theory says that as we evolved we dropped that part of our ancestory...you have proven that theory incorrect!

Long live the hunter gatherers...may our forays be filled with exquisite finds and may those finds ignite each of our artistic abilities!

Thank you for the inspiration!

Sandy

Good morning Dawn! I love it all! I just discovered some on-line shops as well that carry some things that I can't find in my local craft stores, so like you, I have this gathering instinct of all things shiny, vintage and GREAT! Excellent materials! Anita

Dying spanish moss...you an amazing lady! Thanks for the tip on the Michaels jewelry. I made a bracelet from Tim Holtz products last week and need a few additions. Sounds like a trip by Michaels is in order. Have a great day Dawn.

Dawn,
Oh Lordy, I'll be at the Hob today buying up that Spare Parts ribbon. I've never seen it! I don't know if they carry it here. I see Lori just commented, we shop the same Hob Lob, she better not buy it all up! LOL I do love the jewelry stuff. I have some of that eyelash yarn & I wove it into my nest bag I made around Christmas, remember???? I think after BH you need to do a picnik collage of peat pots, or how bout a flickr page? Or at Christmas the 12 days of peat pots.....oh I'm still asleep. Sorry I didn't call back. I can't seem to get rested. We'll talk today. Lisa

You gather and create. I fear that if I gathered I would become a hoarder. Some great stuff you've gathered!

I love that ribbon! But now I am far away from my HobbyLobby - I don't think they have one in the San Diego area. Hmmm. I should google locations, just in case.

Oh you are one of those too. My husband call me the hunter and gatherer and my son is just like me. Needless to say we are spring cleaning right now and don't know what to get rid off. I think I will try slimming down my closet, instead of my arts and crafts, LOL.

Have a blessed week
