We have a beautiful hydrangea bush in front of our house...
it has a ton of blooms and I want to cut them so badly ~
but I remember when I dried the ones below,
I cut the blooms in late July...
placed them in a vase full of cool water
and let it slowly evaporate ~
So I'll wait.
I just love the way dried hydrangeas look!
My studio is such a wreck.
I've got to get in there and straighten up a bit...
seems I love to create in
a clean studio.
As I clean and move the wonderful, old things around
I realize the collections I have and
it always inspires me....
Looking through my archives, I found so many sweet images ~
I need to start giving you new ones again...
I have a stack of old photos by the scanner, just waiting.

It's June 7th and we have been blessed with relatively mild weather lately.
Highs in the low 80's or so...I know the Georgia heat's coming soon but
we're really enjoying these cooler temps!
Have a wonderful Thursday dear friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

That little gal with her cute little haircut...reminiscent of someone even cuter.
So glad that you've been having some days to truly enjoy. Did those storms blast through or was that an isolated thing?
Dawn I love dried hydrangeas ~ I think I am cutting mine too early because I already cut a bunch~ they are losing their color on the bush so I was thinking that maybe they are ready to be cut ~ hmmmmm I need to wait until July :)
I am bound and determined ~
Lovely images, Dawn, thank you! I've saved a few. I definitely have to clean up my room. While I was visiting in NY my hubby painted our laundry room and pantry area and put whatever he could fit in my craft/sewing room! Plus, I tend to leave out things I want to work on, but it winds up making a mess. I read on another blog about keeping a creative journal, where you can right down the projects you want to do so you don't forget about them, yet can keep your room neat untl you actually get to them. I think I need to do that!
Beautiful images, thanks so much for sharing them with us! I am SO enjoying this weather but like you, I know the heat is coming! We will just enjoy today:) HUGS!
such sweet images dawn. "merci" for sharing them and enjoy that glorious weather! (lots of rain here on the east cast).
Dawn, your hydrangeas are so pretty ~ exactly something I'd expect you to grow!
I was browsing the photos down the sides of your blog and all of your mixed media pieces are breath-taking... especially the ones with dried flowers, bits of lace, etc.
You are truly blessed with a marvelous talent!
xoxo,
Lana
I love drying hydrangeas, too. But ours are not yet blooming, so we'll be waiting awhile. I'm glad your summer is mild, that is, not too hot. On the other hand, I wish ours would warm up - I turned the heat on here today!
Like Lorrie, above, I'm waiting for some warm weather and some sunshine here in the Northwest. Such a cold June--I'm in long sleeves and a puffy vest right now! I envy your blooming hydrangeas...we're waiting patiently for ours to catch up. Have a lovely day--always so nice to drop in and visit your blog :-)
Your are such a sweet girl :) thank you so much for these beautiful images, and your dried hydrangeas are gorgeous. Have a good weekend. xoxo Tora
Dawn, I also adore dried hydrangea! They make a lovely filler for baskets and things. When I lived in Colorado I used russian thistle for this purpose, purple and white.
Thanks for some more adorable images, too. I have saved so many, time to make something, I think! I love the little girl with the bangs.
Have a lovely weekend, dear friend!
Hugs,
Sherry
Hi Dawn,
I am working with some dried hydrangea s we speak, so to say! I even have a folder with your name on it in my files for your downloads you share!
I adore that beautiful oval frame, what fun to own a real one!
Some of the hydrangea I am working with has turned to a lacy look as the petals break down. I LOVE that look!
I am using them to dress my nature angels I am making for some softness and color.
Have a fabulous day, I always enjoy your sharing your everyday.
Smiles, Cyndi
I love the hydrangeas. Unfortunately they don't grow well here.
Thank you so much for sharing all the images. They are just darling!
Take care, Karen
