A done deal.

I finished the shadow boxes!
Walking around the studio, I gathered this and that...
stuff that I love and have hung on to now for a while!
I figure if it's still hanging around after a few years,
I love it so let's try to fit it in ~

I sure hope you can tell how they turned out
these pics are pretty awful!

I created a cardboard back for each frame....
sprayed them with spray glue and then pressed the glue side
down onto muslin fabric that I'd ironed.
Then I simply trimmed the fabric the same
size as the cardboard back.

Most every item is pinned onto the back.
I used straight pins so each item is still in tact ~
I didn't want to glue them because, well, that
would destroy the item itself.

I'll show them hanging up soon.
I couldn't find any sawtooth hangers for the backs tonight....

I hope you have an amazing Tuesday dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

this was such a good idea! SOOO much better to 'honor' these little treasures, rather than have them hidden away. Now i'm going to be on the lookout for shadowboxes!

These turned out so beautiful. What a great way to curate your collectables. Have a sweet day!

Beautiful and so meaningful. I loved the way you decided that these were for you to keep since you knew that you'd not yet used them. When we are reluctant to use a thing, that says something important. So glad that these will continue to be treasured right in your own corner!

They're beautiful! Love the one with the baby items especially, but both are lovely.

Wonderful idea Dawn! I love that you've beautifully displayed all these special treasures, rather then piled up in boxes - like at my house! : )
Thanks for the sweet inspiration. I can't wait to see them hanging.

They turned out just as I imagined...even the little pile on the bottom corner of the sewing-themed box. You have such an eye for arrangement...I don't seem to have that gift. My daughter rearranges my shelves when she visits to make them +more pleasing." So beautiful they make me sigh.

LOL! I meant your shadow boxes are beautiful...not my shelves! =D

Oh my precious friend,
This collection under glass is so beautiful. All those old materials and handcrafted items there, to live on in a new place, where they will be admired for years. What lovely "pictures" to hang in your room, dear Dawn.
Hope your week have started wonderfully-and will go on like that.
Hugs and love,Dorthe

Hi dawn, Yes only you could make tiny vintage socks and booties into high art. I love the idea of pinning things on, or even taking a few stitches to secure something. It 's the loving way you preserve these items that makes your art so special. Lovely as always! Love, penny

Wow, what a pretty way to display! It is so much better than keeping those pretty things tucked away where they can't be seen. Nice job Dawn!

I love your artwork. I'd love to show your artwork in my e-zine Art-Online (http://artonline-mwc.blogspot.com). Do you have a video? Or if you have a flickr account, a slide show, although videos are preferable. You can contact me at ocicatstudio@gmail.com. Cheers, Marian
