Home is where you hang your ferns ~

Yes, I've used that title before here on the blog...
but I don't care, I love it!

It's been about three years now since I've enjoyed beautiful ferns
swinging on our front porch. It's so good to have them again.
To me they signify hospitality and southern charm and
I especially love my old wire planters that I plant them in.

I've also planted a few rose bushes!
It's rained about 400 days in a row now (exaggerating) and
the ground was wonderfully soft, so I bought three sticks
that claim they are roses and placed them in the ground.
We'll see if they grow! They are supposed to turn into
the gorgeous roses that are featured below.
Well...we'll see.

I've been playing around with a few fabrics to turn these
sweet pink mary jane's into pincushions.
I shoved this particular fabric into one to get an idea what it would look like.
You won't believe it but it's actually
a Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic fabric napkin from Target!
I love having little stashes of fabrics around my studio. I've had this one for years now
and you just never know when the perfect time to use it will be!
This is just a test, it is in no way finished.

I'm also working on my last two organizer orders!
I'll be sure to share photos of them before they mail out too.

I hope you are doing so very good and
that Spring has finally arrived to smile on your face.
Things are really good here and I'm so very thankful ~

Wishing you a beautiful day precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Just playing around ~

I'm about to start working on a few more treasure organizer orders
but took the weekend off and have been playing around with some
of my new Waverly Chalk Paint!

You'd think I was their spokesperson but I promise, I'm not.
I just love that it's cheap, right here in town
and that there are beautiful shades to choose from.

I found these sweet baby shoes at the thrift last week and thought they would be PERFECT
to experiment with using the new Waverly chalk paint I found at wallyworld!
I mixed half of the "ballet slipper" shade with half of the "plaster" shade to come up with
a beautiful pink to paint them with.

Ohmygoodness...it dried like VELVET!
I just love the finish!! I need to give them a coat of matte varnish but think
the pink is just beautiful. These will end up being pincushions.
I'm sure I have some sweet little roses fabric to fill them with!

I also found these chubby little resin birds at the thrift last week.
The colors were too loud for me so I thought I try the chalk paint on them as well.

Here they are after one coat of the shade "plaster"....I haven't decided if I'll antique them or not, we'll see.

Here's one of the finishing coats they offer...I love a matte finish so it's the first one I purchased.

So...now every time I visit Walmart I go by the display to see if there's another shade I like!
Here's my latest purchase..."crystal" I love the beautiful pale blue-gray shade!!

Our precious granddaughter Clara went fishing with her daddy this past Saturday
and caught FOUR fish!!! She was so proud and she even told me that she now
has a fisherman's thumb! When you take the fish off the hook and your thumb comes
in contact with the fish teeth I guess your thumb gets tough??? Sweet, sweet girl ~

And I wanted to share a photo of our sweet grandson Murray.
I watched him last week when his mama and Clara went to the library.
Here he is watching trains from our front porch...he LOVES them!!!
We are only about 500 feet from the tracks so he was in heaven ~

Wishing you a beautiful spring week dear friends!!!
Thank you always, always for visiting me ~

hugs and love,
Dawn

Antique lace, vintage buttons & laundered dropcloth...
it doesn't get much better than that!

And of course, some thread and a sewing machine are all it takes
to create a couple of wonderful treasure organizers!

WHEW!!! I procrastinated WAY too long on these two sweeties.
Every time I make one, I'm reminded how very difficult they are!
But I finally finished these for two sweet customers and so hope that
they are pleased with and love them.

The organizers are about 22" wide and about 46" long. Each pocket is lined
and pleated so each one can hold a multitude of treasures. You could display your
mother's strand of pearls draping out of one pocket with your favorite hankies
tucked inside as well. Use the top to display your beautiful pin collection.
Add treasured cards from loved ones to another pocket. Hang your grandmother's
wire rimmed glasses on one of the pockets and fill it with more goodies that remind
you of her. You get the idea, right? This organizer is to display your treasures
and hang where you can see it each and every day...and smile.

Pockets in progress...it takes me forever to choose just the perfect laces and buttons!

I also wanted to share a magazine that's coming out this month that
I know we will all love....Fifi's newest Prairie Style!!!!
Keep your eyes peeled, I know I am ~

I also wanted to show you what I found last week at my local Walmart!!
I've been wanting to try growing succulents and they had the
most wonderful variety pack for just 9.98!!!
I did buy some special potting soil that drains well too.
The other plants were lavender but I put those back...
I'll get them next trip!!!

PLUS...look what I found on an end cap in the craft department of Walmart...
Waverly Chalk Paint!!!
PLUS it's only 5.97 for an 8 oz. bottle. They also had some antiquing finishes
but I didn't buy any of those. I may go back for some though!!
The two colors I brought home were called "Plaster" and "Ballet Slipper"
How can you NOT buy a shade called "Ballet Slipper"???????

One last photo for you just because I love it so....
Don't you love this display? Hydrangeas are so gorgeous to me
and those doors are AMAZING!

I know I promised to share some photos of two magazines that I recently purchased
that I thought you would love but I just haven't taken the time to take the pics.

One is latest issue of Romantic Country Summer 2015....
And the other is Romantic Homes May issue ~
They are both just beautiful!!!
I'll try to take some photos to share because
I just know you will love them both.

Noah is out of school this week for Spring Break and it is ALWAYS
heavenly for me because I love staying up late and sleeping late as well.
My clock is weird but I just can't help it!

I hope you are having a wonderful week...
Spring has definitely arrived here!
We already need to cut our grass
for the second time.

Happy Wednesday precious friends and I thank you always for visiting me here!

hugs and love,
Dawn

Happy Easter precious friends!

Wishing you a wonderful day of celebrating
with friends and family or
simply by remembering how much you are loved.

Our dear Lord loved us so very much
that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ to this earth.....
to die for our sins....
then He arose from the dead three days later
to prove He truly is the Son of God!

Living He loved me,
dying He saved me,
buried He carried my sins far away.
Rising He justified,
freely forever,
someday He's coming...
O Glorious day!

~ J. Wilbur Chapman ~

Wishing you a blessed and very Happy Easter!

hugs and love,
Dawn
