"It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse.
"You become. It takes a long time.
That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily,
or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept.
Generally, by the time you are Real,
most of your hair has been loved off,
and your eyes drop out and
you get loose in your joints and very shabby.
But these things don't matter at all,
because once you are Real
you can't be ugly,
except to people who don't understand."

Monday evening we went to Brent and Emily's house to have dinner and were able to hug and love on little Clara!! She's getting so very big ~ she's now over 6 months old...
I put this bunny together many years ago when I first started sewing. I would say about 16 or so years ago! Well, it was when bunnies were all the rage, you could find thousands of them at craft shows. This one had a sweet little dress and bonnet too. I made her from a velour towel of all things!! I took her dress and bonnet off, removed her button eyes and gave her stitched eyes so she would be safe for Clara to play with. What's so neat, since the bunny is basically a towel, it can be thrown in the washer and dryer!
We took the bunny with us to give to Clara and now she's in for a lifetime of love ~

Dawn, what a pretty little girl and what a big smile. Growing up fast, it is incredible. She looks like such a happy baby. The idea of making a stuffed animal out of a towel is great. Easy to wash and dry, plus you can use softener and dry it in the dryer. Sometimes when my daughter's stuffed animals were soiled they didn't do too well even with surface washing. Have a great day!
what a DOLL BABY!!! oh, she just gets cuter and cuter Dawn!!! i LOVE the velveteen rabbit!!! i read that to my boys all the time when they were young...they got to know the point in the story where my eyes would tear up and i would start to cry...happened every time...that story just does something to me...
Sweet bunny and sweet of you to pass it on. Great big hug for that cute baby girl. She is just precious! Have a blessed day!

Clara is such a little cutie ~ those eyes are beautiful! Such a lucky girl to have a wonderful, snuggly bunny of her very own. I love that it was made from a towel.
Sounds like you've been creative forever!!
She's so cute! Good idea to take the buttons of the bunny. Got my package yesterday, Dawn! The soaps and notebook are just lovely.
What a cutie pie! And bunnies are still the rage at my household, LOL.

Clara is such a love. Aren't g-children the icing on the cake? I used to hear people say that when my children were young and didn't know how I could love anything more than my own little babies, but I know now. What a gift.
That little bunny will be loved to pieces.
Hugs,
June
Hi Dawn,
Oh my how big baby Clara is getting. She is a doll! How sweet is that bunny that you made. It will make a beautiful heirloom treasure for her to love for many yrs. It great that it is made from a towel also, So easy to wash, and be all fluffy again. Love the bunny pictures. I am so in love with bunnies. We had 3 real ones, and they have since died. :( thanks for sharing your sweet bunny story.

hi Dawn - Once again I have loved stopping by. Your posts are always so sweet.
Such a cute and cuddly bunny for a super cute and cuddly baby! She looks so happy! And...wash and dry toys are just the best. Love your blog ~ Angela
God has truly blessed your family with a Christmas angel this year. Enjoy the gift.
Yoli :)
She is just a little doll baby! Oh, and enjoy her while she is because oh my, they grow up sooo fast. My 2 little boys are 4 and 6 and I can't hardly believe it. I start telling them very young that grammie doesn't want them to get big. The 6 yr. old just recently told me over the phone (from GA)when I asked him about it he said "but I can't help it grammie"! I just melted :)
And I do know you are having lot's of fun with her♥ That little bunny is adorable too!
