Where Bloggers Create 2012 ~ Welcome to my studio!

I can't believe it's time for Where Bloggers Create again!
I love it because it makes me tidy up, organize and
in the process
I find so much of my stash that I'd forgotten about!!!

If you've haven't been here before,
my name is Dawn Edmonson
and I just love making things!
And of course, if you love to create,
you need great stuff to create WITH...

As you look through my studio you may be thinking,
"good grief that girl knows how to cram 10 lbs in a 5 lb bag!"
Well, you're right!!!
Please enjoy looking around my creative space....
I can't wait to see yours too!!!

We live in a 1925 old farmhouse so you have to walk from the foyer through
my studio to the master bedroom...
you can see the foyer on the left side of the photo below ~
and on into the living room.

I've skirted the desk to hide more goodies,
cigar boxes, cardboard that I use in my artwork, etc.

The sewing table...
it is skirted as well, hiding more supplies :)
(See the master bedroom door frame on the right?)

I truly believe that if you surround yourself with beautiful things,
treasures that inspire you...
it will truly nurture your creativity!

I love to store supplies in vintage train cases and suitcases...
each one holds something different.
One has all the supplies for soldering,
another has all my supplies for paperclay and sculpting,
and I have one that is filled with embellishments to use on
sachets, bottle brush trees, etc.

I love using old furniture in my room...
this cabinet always makes me smile.
What's inside?
Tons of cards that I've purchased and blank cards to create with.

This is one of my published pieces of artwork...
I've kept most every piece that has been published ~
And doesn't everyone need a spare wedding dress to cut up for lace??

I love this tiny glass cabinet so much...
I think I've crammed so many treasures inside it's about to burst!!
Again...surround yourself with all that you love ~

Another published piece of artwork, an Advent Calendar that I made ~

I also love surrounding myself with my all of my precious friend's artwork!!!

Inside one of the train cases:

I've saved this gorgeous box forever ~ I'm not sure what it's original use was but
I've stashed tons of vanilla buttons inside.

More train cases and their contents:

I have lace stored in several of these suitcases and in the accordian file?
Different papers that I can use in my printer...

Underneath the skirted wire shelves that flank my desk...
you KNOW I love my seam binding ~

Inside a few of the drawers too:

I love my fabric stash so much...here's just a fraction :)

This is a tiny baby shoe pincushion that was one of my first published pieces!

The baby shoe pincushion on the left
was also published in the same article in Somerset Life!

I hope you've enjoyed my tour...
maybe someday soon
I will also photograph our guest bedroom that
is (thankfully) my studio overflow!!!

I can't wait to see everyone's creative spaces ~
It's so wonderful to see each and every one...

Thank you so much for visiting!!!
hugs and love,
Dawn

You've got so many great things in your space, Dawn! You must see inspiration everywhere you look in here. I'd love to get my hands on some of your fabric and just look through it. I just did a clear out of mine. I had to acknowledge that there are some pieces that are just too small and others that I am just never going to use.

How exciting! Thought I'd have to wait until tomorrow. My, my, my, you have outdone yourself, Dawn. I really like how you are able to get to everything now without having to move too many things. I also like the skirting. It hides so much that doesn't need to be seen. As for the things that can be seen — you certainly do surround yourself with lovely things.

Wowsers Dawn, it's even more beautiful than before! I love every inch of your inspiring studio. Some of my favorite things are all the train cases, that glass jar with the tatting on the lid, the trophy lamp, that beautiful old box, and of course, all of your artwork. Honestly, I want to pin every shot! Thank you so much for sharing your creative space.
Hugs,
Sandra

Dawn, what a beautiful tour of your space. I love how you've skirted the different pieces to hide the stash within. So many treasures everywhere. Just beautiful. Your shadowboxes look so pretty flanking the little metal shelf piece.

I love seeing kindred spirits' spaces, and knowing that I am not alone in my fascination with tattered bits of EVERYTHING that I feel I must save and treasure. Your space is very inspiring, Dawn!!

Your fabric stash is amazing and the big jar of buttons is wonderful! Love your burlap drapery and all the sweet little shoes.
Using the train cases, etc. for additional storage is a great idea...as is skirting your tables.
The little jar with the blue lid and bird on it is so sweet..I love it!
I'll be spending quite a bit of time studying these photos, and I'll be loving every minute of it!!

Dear Friend~
What a perfect room to create magic! It took me several minutes to read this post since I had to open every picture in a new window so I could examine every inch. I've seen your studio in 100s of pics & some of it I know like it's my own, but theres always new treasures to discover. Like that amazing box holding the white buttons......then the shade on the trophy lamp, is that new? Such a wonderful studio. You have the best stuff, it's no wonder you make such beautiful art. Love you!

Vanilla buttons! Sounds like the dream dessert for an artist like yourself.
