The little box that could ~

Do you remember the little box that I deconstructed to transform???
It now has a new life, a new purpose...
to make you smile!

Before:

 After:

Measuring only about 2 1/2" wide and about 2 1/4" tall....
she is now an "Ode to Spring"!!

I also went treasure hunting and
you know I have to share with you what I discovered!

Hobby Lobby has a massive Easter section and I found this wonderful ribbon.
It is much neater than burlap and since I am in love with textures ~
I had to buy a roll!! It was on sale too :)

I also hit the antique mall and found a few teeny treasures.
I'm such a cheapie that I never come home with tons but what I do find,
is priced low and always what I love!

A neat old poetry book ~ why do I love these old books so?
I can't help myself!

I have a soft spot in my heart for old pincushions too...
I'd been admiring this one for months.
I guess it was meant to be mine as it was marked 50 percent off!

Plus a pair of old rhinestone earrings, perfect to adorn an altered bottle...

Inside the poetry book:

And lastly, a tiny little brown transferware bowl, plate thing.
It's stained up but I don't care, I will love it like it is brand new!

The photo below is really awful, but I found this pair of frames...
and the front glass is domed,
I always love that!!!
And as much as I love botanicals,
the dried flowers and butterflies inside were destroyed.
The back was glass too but I took it off,
removed the dead stuff and washed the frames really well.
Now they wait....to become something new!

Making the old new again....
transforming a cast off into something treasured,
or just loving something because of it's history~
it's what truly thrills my soul!!!!

Have a beautiful Wednesday dear friends,
I treasure your visits and always love your comments!

hugs and love,
Dawn

Dearest Dawn, is it realy possible ....that box, one by many- now a piece of art, and the only one in this big world. You took something ordinairely and made it one of a kind- and the sweetest one of a kind, that is. So cute with nest and egg.
Your findings, are wonderful,too-
The book so lovely, and the pincushion -what a beautiful purchase- and the frames will -I know- be altered in the most fantastic way- not to be known ,again!
Precious friend, you are one of a kind, too-and your art alwayes speaks of love for the nature, simplisity and beauty-I alwayes love what you do.
Hugs and love, Dorthe

Your little box is amazing. I love that you took something ordinarily that would have been tossed and turned it into something special.

Your little box turned out beautifully, Dawn! Love the little banner. You found some great treasures. I love that burlap look ribbon you got. I'll have to hit Hobby Lobby and see if I can find some. I like the look but could do without the mess.

Stain-Smain--makes it all the more adorable. I love to use old pieces like this for my pins by my sewing machine or beside the couch. Good buys, girl.

Ooooh, dear Dawn, so creative again. I just KNEW you would create something nice with this little box! What a beautiful idea! I simply NEED to copy it, if you don't mind. I have just been eating some chocolate truffels from a box with a kind of window. Now I have an excuse to finish them all at once. Thanks so much for sharing! Hugs, Manu
