Keeping the spirit ~

It's always bittersweet when I see pretty lights glowing
on people's homes after Christmas.
It's like they don't want it all to be over....
they want to extend the goodness....
to make it last just a little bit longer.

I always felt that way when I was a child too.
After Christmas eve, after Christmas and then my birthday,
I just wanted the wonderfulness to keep going!!
Yes, New Year's eve and New Year's day were just around the corner
but they weren't the same for some reason.
They didn't hold the "magic" that Christmas did.

But time marches on and we must remember to be thankful
each and every day, to make each day special and
remember to show others kindness and consideration
even when Christmas is over ~
We can keep the goodness going....

Sweet Clara studying the ribbon on one of her gifts Christmas eve....
She's finally just about over that awful bronchitis

She's looking a little serious about this gift business!

Such a sweet angel....she just turned nine months old the 23rd of Dec!

Here's one of my birthday goodies that I found while shopping Saturday ~
I ended up at Michael's with a 50% off coupon
and took the plunge and bought one of these rolling organizers.
It was originally 89.00 and I got it for about 45.00!
Plus I put it together all by myself!
Now I've decided I'd like to have another one ~ we'll see though....

The drawer thingee was a Christmas gift from Dennis!
We found it at Hobby Lobby (I love how it looks old!)
and used a 40% off coupon on it ~
and the jars are Christmas gifts from Dennis as well.
I love storage, can you tell?

I found the mini iron at Hobby Lobby Saturday too (coupon)
and want to use it with the beeswax ~
we'll see if I can do this wax collage stuff....
plus some gesso and styrofoam balls on sale ~

A book I've been looking at and a bundle of sticks!

I guess it looks like some crazy things to buy with your birthday money, huh?
Now I'm in a mega creative mood and
have to get a few art pieces produced and out of here
in the next week for Pam Carriker's book!!!
I feel like I can really concentrate on them now ~

I hope that your Christmas was absolutely wonderful....
And thank you all so very much
for your precious birthday wishes, you SO made my day!!!!!

Have a wonderful Monday sweet friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

Well here we are again Dawn. Up all hours of the night. It must really suit you because you still get amazing amounts done with tons of creativity. It apparently doesn't work like that for everyone, because it's not doing a dang thing for me. LOL. Love your birthday gifts and I don't think they're crazy at all. Isn't it the best when you can pick it out yourself. Nobody else knows what crafts to get you like you do.

That sweet Clara does look like a precious angel. I'm so glad she's getting better.

Well better go, I didn't mean to write a story.
Hugs...Tracy :)

Today seems the perfect day to "go forward", pray, start anew, think good thoughts, create, organize, exchange the electric skillet for craft supplies....sigh....(bless his heart).
LOve the Hobby Lobby drawer thingie, I could do with a few of those. The book looks interesting. I think it's very exciting that you are going to be in Pam C. book.!
Happy Week! Happy New Year Fairy Blogmother!

Thanks for expressing what I am feeling. Not wanting the Christmas feeling to leave. Actually contemplating leaving my little feather tree up for awhile. Clara is soooooo adorable. Mr. Romantic and I agree what's missing from our Xmas celebration is seeing it through the eyes of a child. Two of my daughters got engaged over the holiday soooo maybe I will get some granbabies soon. Love your birthday goodies and that book looks tres interesting...hmmmm hobby lobby here i come!
Blessings to you dear Dawn, Gerri

I've got organizing on my mind, too, Dawn. What with all the ribbons, tags, embellishments, etc., that I bought to do Christmas gifts, I now need to put them neatly in labeled baskets that I have so I can find them again when I need them. Labeling is my top priority come January!

Clara is just so cute! Glad she's feeling better! I would so spend my Birthday money in the exact same manner as you did. It's what makes us happy and we should spend our giftie money on things that make us happy. :-)

You did indeed have treasure load of goodies!!!! Those coupons add up to serious savings. But, I wonder how much money those places make luring us in on the ONE 40 % off coupon. Do we EVER BUY ONE THING? NO!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a great week. Hugs Charlene

Hey, sounds like a PERFECT way to spend birthday money! I am so glad that little Clara is on the mend! Just reading about her bout with bronchitis brought back memories of sleepless nights spent checking on the breathing of a sick child, running the shower in the bathroom in the middle of the night, sponging a burning little forehead with cool water, worrying, worrying . . . I am soooo happy she's well again--she is such a little doll--I tell you, we love these little grandchildren as fully as we love our own children, don't we? Have a great day!

I love storage too! As I put my new studio together, I'm having the most fun putting things away in boxes, jars, baskets, and trays. But I wonder how long I can stay organised???

I wish you a very happy new year! ::Jill

PS How I wish we had a Hobby Lobby in California!

I'm so glad Clara got to enjoy her Christmas, she is such a little doll! It looks like you found some grat Birthday goodies too. You will LOVE the iron for using wax in your artwork. Did they have the tip that is long and thin and flat? I use that one a lot for spreading the wax or crayon, it gives you more surface coverage. I can't wait for the book to come out and see all the great artist featured. Happy creating!

I love the organizers you got, especially the one from Hobby Lobby! I really like that old fashioned look. Clara looks so sweet playing with her ribbon. Took me back in time... my boys always played with the boxes and ribbons, sometimes even more than the gifts. Simple pleasures are the best!

TheresainMS said...

Sweet Clara is precious. If she's like my youngest grandson she enjoyed the boxes and paper more than the gift inside :-) Your birthday money purchases look perfectly normal to me. I would do (and have done) the same thing and will do it again LOL! Hobby Lobby and Michael's ROCK! I could spend mucho money in either place. I guess I'm grateful that we don't have one close by. We have to travel a couple of hours either way to find one so that curbs my spending somewhat. Of course, Hobby Lobby starts selling online January 2010, ya know?! UH OH! LOL

Happy late Birthday...you got some really fun stuff. Clara looks adorable. I haven't been on much the last few days, kinda laying low after the Christmas gatherings.
Big Hugs, Happy New Year!

Little Clara looks so sweet. We still turn on our lights and I guess it is a wish to keep the magic going. It's always sad when Christmas is over. I loved seeing all the craft items you bought. What is it about seeing other people's supplies?! Maybe I need them too:) Have a great week! Twyla

I completely relate with what you said about Christmas being over. I'm SLOWLY packing up the Christmas decor and it always makes me sad :(
Looks like you got some awesome things for your birthday..the only odd thing I saw was sticks. Did you really PAY for sticks??
