A simple but beautiful spring wreath!

I wanted to share a simple spring wreath I made for my mom this past weekend!
The garlands were on sale for half price at Hobby Lobby last week
so we purchased one artificial greenery garland for 8.00 (originally 15.99)
and one grapevine wreath that was 4.99.

I already had the artificial nest, the speckled eggs and moss.
Plus the little buds that surround the nest.

I used floral wire to attach the garland to the wreath as well as the nest.
The eggs, moss and buds were glued on using Fabri-Tac glue.

So...a very simple wreath that was only 13.00!!!
Plus my mom LOVES it!
Now I need to make mine ~
Of course I had to buy the stuff to make me one too!!

Hugs and love,
Dawn

Sweet speckled eggs ~

So....I've been working quite a bit lately!!!
And on what you say?
Creating these wonderful, speckled soap eggs ~
Each little one is hand-poured...hand-cleaned...then thoroughly
inspected before we package them up for shipping!

Being the perfectionist that I am, I've learned quickly
how to clean them, smooth out any imperfections and
of course, you know I love the packaging part!!

I made these robins egg blue soaps just yesterday ~
don't you love the pale blue shade?
Each one is approx. the size of a quail egg,
a perfect size to me!!

We're creating them in other shades now, pale green and pale yellow too ~
But the blue, pink and of course, ivory are still my favs.

I hope you're having a great week....
wishing you a beautiful Thursday precious friends ~

Creating is always, always good!

I managed to park myself in my studio and make a little something new!!!

I've had this beautiful box for years and finally creating something inside ~
my newest nature assemblage!

I just love using nests in my artwork...speckled eggs...
and gathering as many other natural elements to
add to the assemblages.

Here it is!! Fresh from the studio:

I found the most amazing birch bark printed paper and used it
to line the interior of the box...

I choose each and every element carefully and play with the placement until I'm happy.
Each feather is placed strategically in the nest
to enhance the clutch of speckled eggs ~

You can find this piece in my Etsy shop if you'd like to take a peek!!

Thank you so much for stopping by to see me and
always for your sweet comments!!!

hugs and love,
Dawn

Isn't it so funny...

just how our minds work?!
After completing that last assemblage
I couldn't wait to make another one!!
My supplies were all still laying around so....

I've had this wonderful, old wooden box for years.
I've displayed treasures inside and placed in on our mantle,
moved it around here and there just knowing that one day
it should become an assemblage.

Well, today was the day!
It has been raining non-stop here in GA
so all of our Fourth of July plans were cancelled.
So since we were at home, my husband wanted to cook us
a wonderful meal to celebrate and I ended up
heading to the studio to play ~

Here are the results:

I just love the small size of the precious old wooden box!
Can you believe it's only about 5 3/4" tall by 4" wide??
I love the joinery of the ends to the sides...

And I guess the man that previously owned this neat old box
added the screws to frame up a small cardboard box
to help organize things ~ I left all that as-is.
Because really, that's what made me love it so!!!

I lined the inside with the pages of a great old bird book I have and
added several beautiful elements of nature.
Now, this lowly old wooden box has been transformed
into an assemblage....
"A Nature Study"

I just added it to my Etsy shop if you'd like to take a look!

I so hope you had a wonderful Fourth of July!
We'll be celebrating the Fourth Saturday if it will stop raining long enough.
These weather extremes from one side
of the country to the other are crazy!!!

Wishing you a beautiful weekend dear friends ~

hugs and love,
Dawn

So whatcha you gonna do with a clean studio??

Thank you all so much for your sweet comments
on my previous studio post!!!
I have just been LOVING all the changes and just
the fact that it's clean and I can see my fabric again!

Well, you know what a clean studio means?
You've got to MAKE STUFF!!
I ran across a few peat pots that were "in progress"
while cleaning last week so I knew they were
going to be my next project.

This is what your hands look like when you speckle your own eggs!!!

Now they're ready!!!

Feels good to make something again!!
These can be found in my Etsy shop too :)

Now let me see....
what else did I come across that needed finishing??

Have a beautiful day precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Nature inspired ~

I always forget how much I love creating assemblage art!!
And if it involves birds and elements of nature...
I love it even more!

I just finished the pocket assemblage and am really pleased
with how it turned out ~

A layer of wonderful unique paper and
a print of the bird antique sheet music turned
out to be the perfect back drop for this nature gathering.
All the components are nestled inside THE BACK
of an 11" x 14" stretched canvas.

Even an old drawer pull embellishes the top!

Now I want to go make more luggage pockets and put them on everything!!

I just listed this nature assemblage in my Etsy store if you'd like to take a look ~

Thank you always, always for stopping by here to see what I'm up to!
I cherish your comments and you just don't realize
how much you truly inspire me....

Have a beautiful Wednesday dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

A very special gift .... and a teeny bit of frustration ~

A dear friend stopped by the house yesterday to drop off a gift she'd made for me ~
well....I'M IN LOVE with it!!!!
I've always admired assemblages inside old clock cases and
Joy made this amazing one just for me!
The shape, the colors, the glass door, the nest...the theme,
just everything about it is so beautiful...
It speaks of time...and how fleeting it truly is ~

Thank you so very much sweet Joy, I will treasure it always!!!

My little blonde forest waiting for something more ~

And then....the baubles.
I was ready to see them! So I'm supposed to wait 24 hours, right?
Well a couple of hours early I decided to see if they were ready.
NOT.
I had to cut, pull and pry with pliers to get these two sweeties out.
But I do love the way they look!

I ruined my mold. Thank goodness it was cheap ~

This harder mold (and a little deeper too) was awful.
I broke it to smithereens ~ but there was a reason and Lisa warned me about this.

It was still a little gooky inside ~ see it on the very top?

So....I'll wait until tonight to try to pop out the others ~
I do love the look of them though, don't you?
I will use them as little embellishments on my artwork...

I guess patience IS a virtue, right? :)

Have a wonderful Wednesday dear friends!!!
hugs and love,
Dawn
