Thought for the day ~

Today I'm going with my friend Dawn to have lunch with an old classmate....who we haven't seen in over 30 years!!! YIKES! Oh well, I've changed, she's changed and I'm sure he's changed as well. Seems life has a way of doing that to you when you're not looking.

I can remember when my husband and I were married, I was 19 and he was 21....we were just babes ~ but it was wonderful!!! I can remember thinking my parents were ANCIENT at that time but guess how old they were?? FORTY ONE....forty one, my gosh, that sounds so young to me now!

My thought for the day?
Enjoy each moment of each day
as time passes so very quickly

Speaking of growing a teeny bit older,
I just have to wish dear Rose of Bella Rosa a very Happy Birthday!!!
Her husband is out of town all week and I know she'll be missing him so ~

Even though Rose, please pamper yourself and have a wonderful day sweet friend!!!

Make your own magic ~

Sometimes it's easy to get caught up it what the "big" blogs are doing,
where these bloggers are going,
and even how many comments they receive.
And don't get me wrong, these blogs are AMAZINGLY inspirational....
but my point is, try not compare yourself to them.
Chances are they've been blogging a very long time
and that affords them many opportunities.
I've been blogging almost three years and feel so humbled by other blogs.

It's so easy to feel insecure this day and time in ANY genre....
even blogging. But what I wanted to stress in this post
is to make your own magic!!

Do what you love doing, take pictures of what your up to,
blog about it and ENJOY every minute of it!!!

Visit other bloggers, read their posts and
genuinely take an interest in their lives....
and they, in turn, will visit you as well.

It's such a give and take place, this land of blog......
the more you give.....it seems the more you receive.

Humbled and thankful ~

A sweet little baby for your artwork :) I love his(?) little smile ~

Yesterday sweet gifts arrived on my door step. Kindness gifts. You know the kind....you open them and your eyes fill with tears because of the effort and giving that was involved ~

Lisa of Tarnished and Tattered sent me a box of wonderful things and I just have to share her goodness with you! Look at the banner she made me!! I've already hung it and it just warms my heart to see it as I walk into my studio....

And look at the other goodies she included!!

These images are printed on petticoat or crinoline fabric! How cool is THIS?!

Lisa included a beautiful old book with some of the most wonderful images....I have to share them with you. I'll try to scan them for you too ~

A peek inside a favorite ~

Do you have this book Vintage Treasures? It's one of the books I chose to take with me last week and I forgot how beautiful and inspiring it is!!

Just the cover alone makes my heart skip a beat ~

The ideas throughout are simple, elegant and so beautiful ~

This is what my lavender sachets need to look like!! I'm going to try this.....

Apply vintage lace to lampshades to enjoy its beauty ~

Simple vintage pins and satin ribbon adorn gifts ~

You would love this book!

I added a little snippet of lace that was a gift to the knob of my cabinet ~

Placed a vintage crocheted bootie inside my stained and crazed creamer ~
the other bootie is on my advent calendar I created for Somerset...
it signifies when our first son was born December 20th.

And I added a tiny bundle of hair pins still wrapped up ~
why do I like them? I don't know....
I just do ~

I just love new bloggers. I feel like they are sweet little chicks that we should wrap our wings around, don't you agree?
I've recently found Amanda and her blog I should be grading papers....
how wonderful is that name?

New friends & kindred spirits....they inspire me to create!

I've come to realize that artists absolutely love artwork ~ not so much their own but other artist's artwork....especially if it's so very close to their own tastes, or even something that they might even create themselves....

Today I received a precious parcel in the mail, a thank you gift from my friend Marcie at The Rustic Victorian. When I opened my package, peeled back the wonderful brown tissue and saw what she sent me, my heart soared!!!!

Our tastes are so very similar ~ she so knows what I love and created a precious velvet egg that houses a wonderful old tassel with a bird image. Text lines the walls of the egg and the most amazing little vine frames the opening. It even has a little crocheted hanger!! I was studying the egg and peeking at all of the detail then I lifted the tassel and saw a most wonderful thing....my initial was in the very back of the egg! What a sweet surprise...

Then I opened the little bundle with the key on the front....look what it held ~ embellished spools that Marcie made with lace, twine and fiber on them!!
