A look back ~

You know how I love old images, illustrations and photos, right?

Well, I just recently discovered the Library of Congress website....

chock FULL of beautiful old photographs and other goodies ~

Here are a few that I fell in love with:

I've edited and cropped these to my liking ~ maybe to use in artwork?

You could too! These are all so, so very old.

I've been drawn to the precious children that worked in the fields,

as young as 3 and 4 years old!

So many of these sweet children don't even have shoes.

Life was so hard back then. We have it so good these days and don't even realize it.

So, sweet friends ~ Tell me this....do you make project piles?

I was looking around my desk and realized that I just love making project piles!

Some piles are projects in the making....

and some are just plain ol' piles of stuff I love :)

I have this wonderful canvas covered journal that I've been wanting to alter ~

I've added lace, a sweet little baby photo and a few elements to it's pile,

some items will end up being used...and some maybe some not.

I also want to make some beautiful, fabric strawberries out of gorgeous old linens....

I love these faux book covers by 7 gypsies that I found at Hobby Lobby....

and yes, I have plenty of REAL old book covers but aren't these beautiful?

I've been wanting to make something special with these too ~

And this photo?
It's a plate of totally random stuff on my desk ~

I love each piece...but don't know quite what their purpose will be yet.

These sweet girls are always nearby,

cheering me on....

I love them so ~

they've lost so much hair,

and have been through a lot in their little doll lives ~

I cherish their company.

over top of a box that I've covered in gorgeous old sheet music.

Beautiful moss chunks of course!

Another box holds beautiful old chandelier crystals....and an antique

pearl necklace that is falling apart!

I love to save the pearls....

I love so many different things.

Beautiful old fabrics, antique lace, and of course bits and bobbles....

they all play a part in pulling together

a piece of artwork that I'm proud of!!!
