Angels are among us...

Thank you so much for your encouraging words!
I know I should take a bit of a break but do love being here too ~
Seems I'm drawn to my blog...
it is a refuge in it's own way you know.

I played around today in my studio...
just something really simple.
I made an angel wing pattern ~
and this is what transpired:

Simple hand gathered ruffles using my favorite glue, Fabri-tac!
I just ran a line of glue onto my base and scrunched up
my little ruffles with my fingers (which are quite peeley right now!)

Of course I had to add a seam binding bundle and hanger ~
what do you think?
They are about 8" high and ready to hang
Just listed in my Etsy store!

Wishing you a beautiful Tuesday my dear friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

From the wood....from the sea ~

When I opened this sweet package, I knew there would be treasures inside!
Dorthe of Den Lille Lade won my little bottle brush giveaway at Christmas and
after receiving my little tidbit gift ended up sending me a gift back!!!
How's that for a giveaway?
But you have to know Dorthe.
She is a precious soul, an amazing artist....and truly a giving spirit.

She requested my address here at the farmhouse so I knew something wonderful
would soon arrive from Denmark ~
that still blows my mind you know, DENMARK!
Isn't it so wonderful that this blogging world brings us all together,
no matter where we live, what our income is, no matter how far apart....
we are all like minds...loving the same stuff....we are instantly kindred spirits!

Here's what precious Dorthe sent to me, I just have to share:

All wrapped up so beautifully....

Skeleton leaves from the wood....fragments of nature washed up from the sea.....

A gorgeous old print on the back of an old paper....

Beautiful papers, ribbons and charms hold treasures inside!

Just look at this gorgeous artwork Dorthe created...
I can remember swooning over it on her blog!
And here it is now, in my hands.

And look at this precious angel!!!!
Dorthe creates these beautiful angels and the attention to detail is amazing!!!!
She's really small too ~ and so very beautiful.

Dear sweet Dorthe....I am so very honored to own your gorgeous artwork!!!
Thank you so much for each and every gift dear friend,
I will treasure them all!

Yes, I enjoy Facebook....there are so many friends to connect with ~
I also really like Pinterest....
it's perfect for finding so many wonderful ideas and saving them ~

But my blog has been the most wonderful thing of all.
It has allowed me to meet so, so many precious friends....
friends that love what I love.
We truly are kindred spirits.

Have a beautiful Wednesday dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

How about a "perpetual" mantel???

I know we change our our mantels out most every season but
I thought...as much as I love all of the different artwork we've collected around here,
why not treat it as a perpetual mantel?
Ever changing...and switch it out as the mood strikes, you know??
But I have to admit,
I love this gathering on the mantel right now....

I recently lost our nativity scene we'd had for over ten years in the move
but remembered this precious old and very small nativity
I found awhile back...
it has a small, sweetness about it, don't you think?

I have so many wonderful, creative friends here in blogland!!
I would love to share a precious friend's artwork
and Etsy store with you today ~

Dorthe of Den Lille Lade is a precious soul
and her artwork always reflects that!!!\
Dorthe lives on the coast of the Baltic Sea in Denmark and
creates beautiful dolls and art with the driftwood
she finds there on the beach.....
A sampling of her work is below:

Dorthe makes the most wonderful fairies, angels and so many gorgeous creations!!!

I hope you have a GREAT Wednesday this December 8th ~
hugs and love,

There are angels among us ~

There are certain people that you come across in life that truly inspire you. Sometimes they are not likely candidates either. They are not those people that possess everything wonderful and that have perfect lives. They are the individuals that have been through much, that have struggled through their lives and yet kept their faith in the Lord above, that have loved through hardship and still smile through the rain. Those are the people that inspire me.

I say this because Nita of Red Tin Heart is one of those precious souls. She as endured much but still continues to smile, encourage and lift others up. She's recently had major surgery and was so very ill but is now back home and healing, slowly. She lost her precious husband last year after a tragic paralyzing accident....yet she still keeps going. Her sweet daughter Elizabeth has been having health problems as well...

If you would, send a prayer up for Nita and Elizabeth for their health to be restored. For sunshine to beam down on their lives and for the clouds to blow away.......

Nita is amazing. She's even having a giveaway of her wonderful handmade jewelry as she's recovering from her surgery.....Please click HERE to enter to win ~ my only wish? As you enter her contest, say a prayer for her and her family to be blessed!!!

When you visit her blog please read her post "We are not replaceable" ~ it's so precious ~

I'll post my treasures that I found at Scott's Antique Market soon ~ it was such a wonderful Valentine's Day gift.....just as wonderful as the year Dennis gave me lovebirds!!

hugs and love to you all ~ Happy Monday!

You all are the best!!

Thank you so very much for such sweet, kind comments about my angel!!! You sure do know how to make a girl feel wonderful! She was definitely one-of-a-kind as I used so many unique items that I don't have any duplicates of but that's OK, that's what makes a piece special to me . . . the angel was sold this morning to a sweet friend and customer so I know she will have a wonderful home . . . Thank you, Kim!!!

Tuesday I spent all day on the computer creating a blog for a friend of mine who's just acquired her first flower shop! Tammy is an incredibly talented floral designer and I'm so very glad that she has her own place ~ The image above looks quite simple but I learned how to cut away the background in Photoshop Elements 7!! I'm trying to learn about layers and so much more ~ There are so many wonderful editing possibilities!! Tammy's blog is One Rose Florist if you want to take a peek. The banner is kind of big but I'm still learning! At one time I had the rose placed on top of a beautiful old handwritten letter but it was too busy . . . Tammy wanted a blog to stay in touch with her customers and the blog is a great way to do it ~

Another girlfriend has just opened her online store called The Glitzy Crown!!! Faith has the most amazing crowns, tiaras and other sparkly things . . . I'd love for you to stop by and take a look ~ You can visit her blog HERE too!! I wish you all the best Faith with your new venture ~ hmmmm, wonder how I'd look with a tiara? :)

Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday sweet friends!

My tattered angel ~

Seems as though my angel has been busy.....watching over, guarding and keeping safe those she protects ~ and that's gotta be hard work, and so explains the "tattered" part.

She stands approx 17 1/2" tall and her wingspan is about 12 1/2" wide. I had the most fun creating her! I used strips of muslin that I applied with matte gel medium. I didn't place them too randomly but adopted a pattern in different areas of her body.

I've topped her with a wonderful old mason jar lid, embellished with the most beautiful piece of an old earring and a strip of a rhinestones. She wears a handmade necklace created from a beautiful old watch and inside is a snippet of sheet music!! Her sheath is a wisp of vintage lace accented by a gorgeous old earring and little pearls and shells that I've glued randomly on the skirt. I love the look of this French text and created two cards to hang around her waist. And lastly, I gently sprayed her white wings with a strong instant coffee solution and dried with my hair dryer!

UPDATE: Sold ~ Thank you so much Kim!

Wishing you a very happy Tuesday!!!!
xxoo, Dawn
