Finally beginning to thaw...

Well...the snow is finally beginning to melt, slowly.
We just aren't used to having snow and having it for more than a day is unusual!
Noah's school was cancelled Tuesday when the storm hit and has continued
to be through today (Friday). There are just too many icy patches to risk it.

Noah took a few more photos for me Wednesday...
it really wasn't much at all!
Not even two inches but it PARALYZED our state.
I don't know if you've seen the news coverage but we had below freezing temps for
almost three days so all it did was freeze and then refreeze each night.

I didn't share this with you on my last post but Tuesday afternoon
after the snow fell and as it was
late afternoon and freezing to ice,
several of Noah's classmates were in a terrible accident,
hit a tree and one of his friends was killed instantly.
17 years old.
It breaks my heart and always scares me so...
Just knowing that life can change in one. simple. second.

He's had a hard time dealing with it this week.
Being home, being bored and thinking of his funny friend.
They would joke between classes and rag on one another as boys do.
I'm keeping all of those involved in my thoughts and prayers
as well as so many students who loved him.
It's just so hard to be faced with mortality when you are still so young.

One more pic of our precious angel Clara...eating snow!
She had the best time playing in it....

Thank you always for stopping by to see what's going on here ~
Wishing you a wonderful Friday and
a very happy weekend!!!

hugs and love,
Dawn

In my little corner of the world ~

Believe it or not......
we. have. SNOW!!!
Georgia doesn't get snow very often,
and when it does, believe me dear friends,
it. is. an EVENT!

Our local news has been broadcasting all day long ~
students have been stranded at schools and
even having to spend the night ~
traffic is so jammed that even after midnight
people have not been able to make it home.
I promise you...it's not pretty.
We simply do not know how to drive in it or even cope with it.

To all my Northern friends, my hat is off to you!!
You have my complete respect and admiration.
I can't wait to kiss our baby snow storm goodbye in a day or so as
it is supposed to be in the mid 60's on Saturday!

Here are a few photos that I bribed Noah to take for me
(not really bribed, he just loves me)
this was early in the day and it snowed until about 9 pm!

And guess who was SO excited about the snow???
Our little Clara!
Just look at her sweet face (photos courtesy of her mama)

And look at our little angel Murray ~ this was his first snow!
His precious expression says it all.

Happy Wednesday my dear friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

A few pretty things ~

I finally feel like I'm getting back into a bit of a creative groove!
It always helps me if I start with familiar things,
just like these lavender sachets.

Pulling out fabrics, lace and seam binding always gets me on a roll ~
I made a few of my classic wedding lace sachets but made a few
that are a little different! I used a beautiful brown velvet type material,
a gorgeous snippet of brown and blue antique lace trim with a bit of cream lace
and just love the end result!!!

All the sachets have been listed in my Etsy shop if you want to take a peek...

When I was cutting out the sachet fabric I cut out a few needle books as well.
Now to get to working on those ~
I still haven't gotten my sweet old friend (my sewing machine) back
from the repair shop but hopefully I will get it this week.
Thank goodness I have a back up machine
or I really would be chomping at the bit!

I hope you all are doing so good and staying warm!
The weatherman is saying we may have snow
this Wednesday in middle Georgia...
oh well, we'll see what happens!

Wishing you a beautiful Monday precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Finally...my creative muse is stirring!

It seems that all I've been concentrating on lately is soap.
Believe it or not, we've had TONS of orders, even in January!
And of course, I'm so very thankful ~

But finally I've had a little pause and I've gathered a few beautiful elements together
that make me smile!!! Antique baby quilt fragments for a few needle cases,
brown velvet and antique lace for a lavender sachet
and timeless toile and lace for another.

It feels so good to combine these gorgeous elements to
possibly create something beautiful ~
I didn't get much further than this but was so happy that I was able to,
I just had to share with you....

Plus, I wanted to share a few found treasures!
The other day I visited Hobby Lobby
and had to buy a bit more of their embossed fake leather fabric ~
don't you just LOVE it???
Plus, in their jewelry section I found a beautiful old looking key, half price too!

Next, I went to TJ Maxx and found the most wonderful printed tissue paper
and embroidered bee washcloths ~ all for such a great price!

It has been so horribly cold down here in Georgia!!!
But I feel so bad even speaking of it because of
all our Northern friends are going through.
We are just not used to these cold temps here in the south!!!

Wherever you are, I so hope you are staying cozy and warm ~
Wishing you a wonderful Thursday my dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Our adopted relatives ~

I managed to hang a few more things
on these old farmhouse walls this past weekend!
You know my motto...
more is more!!!!

One was the wonderful penmanship print that I framed
a few weeks ago. It. is. HUGE!

Plus, I hung a couple more "adopted" relatives on the living room wall too.
Hubs and I found these two amazing bubble glass oval frames a while back
and I'd been waiting for the right spot to hang them.
I took them totally apart and cleaned the beautiful glass
and now they are finally hanging in our home!

I know it's odd to have photos of folks around who you don't even know but
I have an appreciation for their character and age that I can't explain.
And the neat thing? My real family "gets" it too!!

I have to share a photo of sweet Clara from just yesterday!
Her daddy just assembled a jungle gym in her backyard and she LOVES it!
Can you believe how grown up she is? She'll be five in just a few months...

And here's a precious photo of little Murray (who's really not that little!)
looking into his mama's eyes one night when he was restless.

She took this pic and I just think it's wonderful!
You can so see the love in his eyes for his mama....
By the time Clara's birthday comes around in March
Murray will be a year and a half old!

Thank you always, always for stopping by to see me here.

Wishing you a wonderful Tuesday dear friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

What is beautiful to you?

We all have different tastes and love different things.
So what really makes you swoon?

If you've been around my blog any time at all,
I guess you KNOW what I love!!!

My dear friend Cindy sent me a care package last week...
which was a COMPLETE surprise of course
and just look what it contained!!!

Six of the most precious pairs of baby shoes EVER!
They are aged to perfection and now, well now...I've just GOT
to transform them into something adorable!
It is my duty and calling to do so ~

Thank you so very much sweet Cindy...
you are such an angel for thinking of me,
I just love them all!!!!

Happy Monday dear friends!!!
Wishing you a beautiful day ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

Anxiously awaiting my sweet friend's return ~

Which sweet friend you ask???
My most wonderful 22 year old sewing machine!

It's been on the blink now for several months and
I've been using a Brother machine that just pales in comparison.

Soooo, I finally am having it tuned up,
repaired and I just can't wait to get it back.
Having used it for so long, it truly does become like an old friend.
I'm hoping to hear from the repairman any day now to pick it up!

With all this fabric and lace...I really DO need to get to making about a zillion things!

I ordered a new book the other day from Amazon and just LOVE IT!
The name is 'Stylish Weddings' by Jenny Doh
and it has some beautiful ideas inside.

No, I don't plan on creating for a wedding any time soon but
I've always loved creative ideas for weddings because you can

The best kind of people are...you.

I saw this on Facebook and just HAD to share it with you...
don't you just love it???
To me...YOU are the best kind of people.
You always inspire and encourage me!

So what's been going on around here??
Not much really.
I have listed a few more treasures in my Etsy shop...
I mean it.
I have GOT to let some of these things GO!
I have so much....

And as far as being creative?
My biggest accomplishment, other than Noah's tablet sleeve in my last post,
is a cosmetic bag I made for my purse!!!!

I used some beautiful chenille tapestry fabric my dear friend Cindy gave me,
lined it with a type of ticking fabric and
interlined it with some felt I found in the clearance bin at Hob Lob...
I really don't need a zipper because my purse is a little different.
The main compartment has a zipper to house the makeup bag.
It's a wonderful Fossil purse that has a section on the outside that serves
as a wallet...change purse and credit card spots included.
So, the interior houses my makeup, brush and lotion.

Is is sad that I love a purse so much???
I found it at a second hand store for twelve bucks.
Yes. A Fossil leather bag for 12 dollars!!!
I've used it now for a couple of years and love it STILL!
It looks better and better with age.
So, why can't I? HAHA!

I have to share a few photos of our sweet angel Clara...
Noah found this pic on his phone that he took way back last fall,
I just had to have it so he emailed it to me. Isn't it wonderful???

Clara spent the night with us Saturday night ~ oh my goodness, I cannot EVEN believe
how grown up she is!!! Do you realize our sweet first grandchild will be FIVE this March?

Happy Tuesday sweet angels...

hugs and love,
Dawn
