The beginnings of something wonderful...

We've been making some major changes around this old farmhouse!
We're going through our wonderful old antiques
and listing a few in our new
We are deciding what can go
and what can stay!

It's a good thing I believe ~
just to go through things and decide what
needs to go to a new home and what you just
love so much it can stay.

I admit it. I love my beautiful old things but truly
there is a time where you know it's OK to let go and for
these lovely items to grace a new home.

I had this amazing collection of clocks, new and old
that I always displayed together. Some are so pitiful
I can't even sell them but their graphics are so gorgeous!
 Some of the better ones
are now listed in our new shop too!

This particular clock was a new clock and the case
was crafted to look very old.
It didn't work anymore though.
Well...I gutted the thing!
Now I've primed the inside to brighten it up
and it will soon be a beautiful assemblage!!

Stay tuned sweet friends....

ohmygoodness...starting this piece has so thrilled my soul!
I can't wait to work on it even more
but I just had to share the beginnings with you ~

A little change can be so GOOD ~ and a sachet giveaway!

We were so busy this past weekend!
We had the bright idea to move our furniture all around
and bring our big old buffet into the living room
to place our tv on and that in turn caused
a domino effect!! (You all know how that goes, right?)

These photos are not the best but I still wanted to share ~
I need to work on the front of the buffet to fix that little area where
a piece of veneer is missing but SO love it in the living room!
That's Clara's little leg showing...I should have taken more photos of her too!

We moved the big ol' beautiful wardrobe out and this
gave us room to place the skirted table on the opposite end of the room ~
We need new furniture badly but oh well, it's what we have
and I am thankful!
OH and see that wall behind the chair?
I will be filling that thing up SOON!

You can see the large wardrobe that was moved out
and it now has a new home in the dining room!
I've got about eight thousand things crammed on top...
Thank goodness for the high ceilings in this old farmhouse!!!

The grandbabies were here all day Sunday and I could just kick myself for not taking
tons of photos of them!!! I was just so tired from our Saturday's moving I simply
didn't get around to it....They were precious and Murray is now 9 months old!!!
The time just flies by, doesn't it?

AND I HAVE TO SHARE.....

I've offered up three lavender sachets for a giveaway

Thank you always for stopping by to see me...and
especially for taking the time to comment!

Playing with dyes and mists!

I'm sometimes a bit of a chicken when it comes to trying new things...
but I've really been wanting to experiment with altering
some of the neutral seam binding that I have!

My first little attempt was to add about five or more drops of distress ink
"brushed corduroy" brown
to some water in mister bottle and see if it would create the mottled effect that I love.
I started with the shade "egg shell" seam binding and squirted it thoroughly.

Well, it mostly just tinted it a pale brown...

Next, I pulled out some Glimmer Mist in the shade of "Cork"
and spritzed in onto the dried seam binding...
THAT was what I was looking for!
That old, dirty look!

And I've been reading about boiling avocado peelings and pits to dye as well!
I only had one but boiled the peeling and pit for about thirty minutes....
It really wasn't this golden looking, I think it was the lighting in our kitchen.

I let the seam binding soak for about thirty minutes and
just look at the soft pink, fleshy shade it turned the seam binding!

I need to buy about five or six to achieve deeper tones...
the original egg shell shade of seam binding is in back.

I added a little gauze to see how it would tint...

And even a chunk of canvas ~ it turned such a soft shade of pink!

I need to be brave and experiment more with dyeing. This was so much fun!!!

Wishing you a beautiful Thursday dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn
