The beginnings of something new ~

I just have to share what I'm working on ~
even though it's totally not finished!!!
I found an amazing box and knew, just KNEW
it would be beautiful altered.

Here are the beginnings, I have to share with you ~
I'm not quite finished but have painted the entire box a soft cream color
including the hardware (which I LOVE painted!)

I've also used an antiquing wash all over...painted on, then
wiped off so the goodness falls into the crevices and cracks.

Next, I've added my most very favorite image onto the top ~
I can't help it, it's just beautiful to me...

I've painted a rough coat inside as I've not quite decide what to do yet...
maybe line with sheet music and add a handmade gathered luggage pocket in the lid???

I just have to share because I know you love what I love!!!

Happy Friday precious friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Our night owl, creating and posting into the night. The box is beautiful, and a pocket on the lid would be perfect. Summer insomnia seems to have me checking out my friends deep into the night. Sweet dreams my friend. Love, Penny

Yes, and it's fun to watch something becoming something more. Don't you love us all hanging over your shoulder? I'm sure the studio is quite crowded!

Gorgeous box. Would you mind please sharing the painting/distressing part of this process some time? Diff folks seem to use diff techniques but I don't know where to begin; I have a cigar box that I am dying to transform but don't want to screw up :)

Though it's not completely finished, one can see that this is going to be a real beauty! Can you share as to how you do your antique washing? I've got a box that I'd like to dress up and I think this technique would work perfectly. Looking forward to seeing the finished box!!
