Easily distracted...

When I should be working on my sweet little "flea bags" that have
been waiting to be embellished for almost a week now,
I decide to organize my lace!!!

I really didn't mean to but I've been looking for just the right pieces
to add to the flaps of the purses and got to thinking,
my lace collection is an absolute mess.

At first I started wrapping it around plain old shipping tags
but I thought about all the cabinet cards I have!
I've scanned most of them in to share with you so
I just thought I could wrap the lace
around them...having the subjects peeking through too!

I did wrap a few pieces around shipping tags but
abandoned that idea quickly ~
They were perfect for small pieces and delicate lace though...

The jumbled pile is looking better and better!!

But I still have a laundry basket full to organize...

And a small suitcase full too!!

I love these precious fragments from the past...
I feel honored to be their custodian for now ~
and if I give them a new life and purpose,
it's all the better!!!

Happy Friday my dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Oh what a treasure trove of some of your and my most favourite things in life!
I love how you have used your cabinet cards to wrap some of your laces. At least you get to look at them more often this way!
They are looking so just right and also organized in that case Dawn and
what would our life be like without them! I must say I love this job and, like you, it only seems to happen when you are looking for just that piece that you just knew you had "somewhere"!!!
Have a wonderful weekend dear friend!
Love and hugs,
Suzy

What a good use for the cards and the lace! I'd steal this idea if I had all those pretty bits.

What a beautiful idea for storing and displaying at the same time your beloved treasures, Dawn!! So lovely to look at and it looks like a great way to spend time admiring the gorgeous work of hands of the past working their magic with thread. I just love old lace too and have a hard time "using the good stuff" as Karla would say. Thanks for sharing and inspiring us all. Blessings, Linda

Old photos and a suitcase...I love this idea!!

Just think how much easier it will be to finish your little flea bags now that you're so organized!!

Great idea! I have two suitcases, one large, one small full of laces. Then I have a huge pile of runners etc.. They need to be organized. I hate going from one spot to the other looking for the items.

What a wonderful solution for storing those bits of gathered lace. I love your blog - your creative solutions are always amazing, and the creations you make and sell on your Etsy shop are wonderful, Dawn.

I had the same problem with my lace stash and I ended up just using plain cardboard to wrap mine on, love your idea ever so much better! But, I will not be unwinding mine to make them pretty like yours, :) You always know how to make the pretties touches, small and large.

all so wonderful!!

But I would just make a mess again the first time I tried to create something. =)
So I'm leaving mine in piles and drawers...
