Oh well, not everything turns out wonderful ~

Have you ever worked hard on something and then,
when you're finished been utterly disappointed?
I finished the drapes up this weekend...six panels worth and truthfully?
They burn my retinas!!!
They are just too much for me....yes, they will keep the cold winds out this winter,
but I don't think I'm going to keep them up.

I love my collections so much in our living room so there really is a lot of visual clutter.
Everything is neat but there are a lot wonderful things we love in this room.
The curtains just push it all over the top for me!

So, like I said...not everything turns out wonderful!!!

I did find a GREAT magazine this weekend!
I don't buy many magazines any more but when I do find one I like,
I always love to share it with you here. I've included a few pics
of what's inside to give you an idea ~

And the REAL reason I ended up deciding to purchase this issue?
(Other than the fact that it was filled with all kinds of goodness)
A sweet friend of mine, Shelley of Sweet Pea Home, is featured inside!!!
She's such an angel and wonderfully talented ~
When I first started creating artwork about six years ago,
she had a brick and mortar shop and it was INCREDIBLE...
anyway, she purchased a few of my first pieces to sell in her shop!!
She encouraged me to continue creating and was such an angel to me....

So, I'll quit obsessing about those crazy curtains and move on to a few new projects.
I've got an order for an Ipad mini sleeve and a big ol' pair of angel wings!
And then there is this wonderful fabric taunting me as well....

And my precious friends....I'll leave you with
a couple of current pics of our two sweet grandbabies,
Clara and Murray ~
Just to make you smile!!!

Wishing you a beautiful Monday sweet friends!!!!
Hugs and love,
Dawn

I love the drapes .. LOVE THEM! If you decide to get rid of them I want first dibs!

Dear Dawn, this has happened to me way to many times. You did such a sweet job of making them, and I think they work, but I do not live with them. I think Curtains are hard when it comes to choices of fabric. I made three different kinds and fabric before I bought the Cranberry Voil panals. Everything had been just too heavy for this farm cottage. You might say less was more in my case. You will either love em or leave em....been there. I just did a old dresser, I like it, go take a peek! Love, Mary

Hey Sweetie,
A. I like them. I'm not just saying that, they look good to me. I think you need to give it some time.
B. Where in the heck did you find the mag? I've looked everywhere for it.

The drapes are lovely, maybe it will just take some getting used to if it's a big change...I love that magazine,, I have a few with lots of bookmarks in them. The paper wreath catches my eye for sure. Thanx for sharing.

I like your drapes --- but you can always take them down and make lovely sun dresses out of them!! And pillows and pillow covers!!
Really - don't laugh- My mom made the drapes for our house and had left over material. She then made summer shifts for herself and me and my sister. We went on summer vacation with matching curtain summer shifts!! I've got to find that picture!!

I agree that the curtains don't quite work. What if you got some Rit Tan Dye and dyed them? Love the pictures of the grands!

I think the drapes are lovely and look just fine from what I can see of the room. I think that maybe you should leave them up for awhile to see whether or not they grow on you.
I've seen this magazine but have never picked it up. I think it's high time that I do ;)

Hi, I have to agree with the majority and say I think that the curtains look lovely..from what i can see. They make the room look cosy and homely and being winter over there I think that's a good thing. Your grandbabies are adorable! all the best, Maryann

How disappointing it is to spend so much time and money on something that doesn't turn out like we thought it would! If you live with them for awhile and you still don't like them take them down and re-think the situation! I Love the Vintage Magazine too!

I think the drapes are lovely, Dawn, but I understand how something can be pretty, but not give you the feeling you want! I love that magazine, too!

It's frustrating when something we've spent so much time on doesn't match up to our expectations. Still, I think they are lovely, and they may grow on you, too, but if not, you will be able to easily take them down.
Such sweet grand baby faces.

So many ladies full of compliments and I agree, dear Dawn! So lovely colors and views. The journal is also beautiful. It is a large spectrum to see and learn. Last but not least your lovely grandkids. So sweet, dear Dawn. It is joy only :)

I LIKE your drapes.....I think they are going to grow on you. I like how they are in your living room with your things. I think pics look great.

The drapes look great to me. Sometimes we have to live with something new for a while to get used to it. If it is a pattern thing for you wait and see how you feel after a while, if it is a tone thing then over dye them with coffee, tea, or dye. Your home is so cozy and lovely, you have a wonderful style!

I hope you have a great week!

I like how the drapes look in the room. If anything, to lighten the room's look, take some of the paintings off the mantle. I do like the paintings, however they make a visually heavy mantle. I do believe the drapes will grow on you once you have them up a while.
I adore your blog & stop by daily to see what loveliness you have created.

Hi Dawn,
I think your drapes are very pretty but I also understand that if they do not feel and look right to you then they have to go. I've done this more times than I care to remember. I think that I now have about six different pairs of panels hanging in my closet! LOL!

Love the babies, they are adorable.

Well, I love the drapes but if they don't do it for you... you are the one that counts:) Sweet pictures of the Grandyounguns! Love those sparkly eyes! Have a blessed day dear friend, HUGS!

I know how you feel about working so long on something and picturing it in your mind and then it doesn't always live up to expectations!! The drapes are lovely but I do know what you mean about competing in the room, live with them a while and if they are still not to your liking, perhaps save them for your 'winter drapes' only :) Love the pictures of your grandbabies

It's a lovely room. I like red bricks a lot; however, and you can shoot me if you like, they are what is burning your retinas (and not the drapes) in that room. I wish that I had some whitewashed bricks for you because my room could totally rock your red brick fireplace. =D I am so running out of here...

Dawn- I'm with you- the drapes are a bit much. Maybe you could bleach them down some. Soften them up. I love the fabric but it is alot of color for you. It needs to be softer-- that's just me.
Hope you are having a good start to the new year. Joy

It's always a pleasure to see Clara and Murray with their smiling faces, Dawn! Too bad about the panels ~ I think they turned out great, but I can understand how you feel. Sometimes we don't know how it's going to look until they are up though.

I LOVE that magazine and have been looking for the newest issue. I'll have to hit CVS later and see if they have it {they usually do}. I also need to get my January issue of Romantic Homes since my subscription ran out before I could get it {and I won't get the next one by mail until February's issue}.

Murray is becoming his own little person and that angel Clara grows sweeter every day. I don't think the curtains are that bad Dawn. Maybe they will grow on you or look more "seasonal" when spring arrives. How about using them in a bedroom? Don't let all your hard work go for nothing. I know how you feel, been there, done that. Have a happy day Dawn. Mary

Dearest Dawn,
I too love your drapes, they are the most beautiful fabric,- but I also know what you mean, about them taking the focal point away from your beautiful collection, I can see many think you should paint the bricks- and that would be a great idea, I think, too, if you have the power and energy to do so.....and ofcóurse if YOU likes the idea :-)
The new mag. looks wonderful my friend- and so does your babies-- I really smiled whren seing them !
Hugs and love from Dorthe

Oh I'll have to agree with others, the drapes are lovely. The botannical print goes along with other natural items in the room, the butterflies, nests, deer. And I have to agree, whitewashing the fireplace would soften up the look so much and pull it altogether! Just my 2 cents! Love your blog!

I like the bleaching idea--make them look older and faded. Sorry for your disappointment. Anyone who does projects knows your feelings about them.

The drapes are lovely but you háve to live with them, I say white or cream bricks for sure.
Everything looks great and the Grands are darling, the smile just precious on your Grandson.
Hugs and Happy New Year!

Dear Dawn .... those drapes are lovely and look great in your living room. Just a thought ... sometimes after labouring over something for a while we can feel tired of it. Give yourself a little time. Sandra from Canada.

You put so much work into them that I would live with them for awhile. In time these things warm up to you but if not you are talented enough to make something else just as awesome!!

I'm so excited that you finished them. When I read that you didn't like them...I was bummed that you put all the time and effort in. I've done curtains and it's work. Before you toss them, think about painting them....I don't know...crazy...but I've seen on pinterest where people are painting their couches....I figure not much to lose and if it works, you know they fit your space. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Dawn, I love the drapes. You will get used to them. Such a beautiful pattern. Love the magazine...buy it when I can find it.
The children are so beautiful.
Hugs to you,

Oh, poor Dawn! I *love* the drapes, but you're the one who needs to be happy with them. Maybe in the spring, if you really want to take them down, you could use the fabric to make valances for the windows.: )

In no particular order: I'm lusting over your Paris Flea Market charm pack... congratulations to Shelley on being featured in Vintage Style... and the pics of your precious grandbabies are adorable.♥ xoxo

I have seen this Blog before. But just really started to be into it.The Drapes did it.I Love them. But you may like them in a different spot in your house better. But they look good to me.
I had purchased a small amount of that same fabric a few years ago.I gave it to my mom. When she passed my sister was the executer of the estate and I never saw It again.
But I love the pattern and colors.

Hi Dawn! I am here to add to the chorus of your curtain lovers. The print is not too busy, and the strong vertical lines lead your eye upwards, a pleasant contrast to the horizontal ness of the mantel area. And they soften the area, too. As a former interior designer, I give it two thumbs up. But the ultimate test is whether they grow on you or not, so let that be your guide. Hugs, Cathy
