A funny thing happened on the way home ~

Not for me that is, but for my art!
Remember the items I sent in to be published in Pam Carriker's book,

Well, I've been waiting and waiting for my artwork to be returned ~
And I hounded Pam, poor thing, to find out what happened to it.
She did the best she could to try to track it down
and since I had moved during it all,
my address had changed
so I just figured out that the package
would be forwarded on to our new address ~
No.
It wasn't mailed via USPS...but sent via UPS.

Bingo.

All our mail has been forwarded, and will be for a year, but UPS?
They just leave stuff and run, God love 'em :)

So, I headed over to our old house, knocked on the door
(feeling SO like a goober)
and guess what??!!
They had my package!!!!

Funny thing though ~ the package was in the teenage daughter's room
and it had been opened (it had been there awhile, maybe she was curious?)
They brought me the box and there was my artwork!!!!
BUT....
only two pieces out of four.
There was even the labeled empty bag of one of the pieces laying inside ~
the beekeeper....
and the bird assemblage is missing too ~

The girl is out of town this week but her mom's
going to see what she did with
the other art pieces this weekend.

I was so thankful and very understanding.
And guess what?
I'm a little bit flattered that the young girl may have liked my artwork
enough to keep it or even give it to a friend!!!!

We'll see....I left my cell # with her mom :)

Have a beautiful Thursday dear friends,
love you much!!!!!
Dawn

Crazier things have happened I guess...
Will be interesting to know if you ever find out what happened to the missing pieces.

I guess when we send in work we've really got to be able to let it go...just in case.
Beautiful Dawn, as always,
xoxo~Kathy @

Well I'm glad you found most of it Dawn. Mystery solved, sort of. Love the pieces you showed here, your work is always an inspiration. the bee keeper is unique and I love the scripture you chose to put with him. Thanks for sharing. ~ Abby

You were lucky that they admitted to having it! If I had your stuff I am not sure I would give it up! LOL!

You are taking the positive approach, which will probably get your art work back better than the alternative. Hope so!

Oh Wow Dawn, are you always this sweet and generous and understanding and forgiving? Amazing!!!
A teenage girl's curiosity is understandable to a certain extent, but, opening a package which bears someone's else name on it, is wrong. I don't know about UPS packages, but with USPS delivered packages, that is a felony. The mom of the teenage daughter should have intervened and taught the girl a valuable lesson. I would do that with my children. I don't more about the situation to be overly judgmental. But your understanding of this whole situation is so admirable.

A latest fan of you, your work and your attitude

These are beautiful pieces. I admire your approach to this awkward situation. As previous posted they ARE so lovely, it may be hard to part with them. I hope her parents make her do what's right. I love the framed heart/key piece. You are blessed with such wonderful creativity. You have inspired me for a long time.

Hi Dawn
I am so glad you have a happy ending to this or at least most of it was. It is hard to lose artwork. I know I sent 3 stars to Sew and noone has seen them. It wouldn't have been so bad but one was a tribute to my dad that I had made right after he died and I spent so much time on it...
I hope your summer is going well
Blessings
Rebecca

Dawn, that is not right,-well I so understand this girl would love your art pieces, ---but opening- and then even keeping some of them-that`s just not right, sweet dear understanding soul- I so hope for you, to get them back again-and soon.
If I was the mother ,I would be very ashamed!!
Dearest, I love the honey maker,-and the bird one- they are both so special, and wonderful.
But all you create makes me feel happy .
Love to you and hugs,-
Dorthe

I totally agree with Annonymous and Dorthe..the pkg should NOT have been opened and they should have made the effort to contact you. Shame on them, and I applaud you for your patience. Your work is beautiful but no excuse for that young gal taking some of it. Hope you get the missing pieces returned.

So how did the teenager stumble across it, Did she get the mail b4 mom did, She did not know any better then to open mail with someone else name on it? I agree shame shame glad you did recover what you did and maybe the other pieces will be somewhere close by!

wow interesting i didn't know you could even get your art work back when u submit it for consideration. that is a better deal. hope you finally get it back. she must have liked it. probably thought you would never ask for it.....hugs me

You're just so nice! The girl is lucky it was you and not someone else who would of made a big stink about it (rightfully so I might add). Hopefully she didn't sell them. Deb

I'm steaming thinking about this! That was sooo wrong in so many ways. Didn't they know who they bought the house from? I would of tried my best to contact you. Sounds like the daughter got the package first, and maybe didn't tell her mom, but mom knew where to find the remaining stuff...hmm I don't know the whole story but it's really upsetting, that's why I'm commenting twice. I have a feeling this may lead you to connection with a potential future artist. She was intrigued by your art; it is touching she probably wanted to keep it. I agree the pkg should not have been opened, but it was and you are kind and patient! The girl most likely opened it, not knowing the law about mail and was so intrigued didn't want to let it be known.
Your art must of touched her~xXx How could it not.. :D
