So, sweet friends ~ Tell me this....do you make project piles?

I was looking around my desk and realized that I just love making project piles!
Some piles are projects in the making....
and some are just plain ol' piles of stuff I love :)

I have this wonderful canvas covered journal that I've been wanting to alter ~
I've added lace, a sweet little baby photo and a few elements to it's pile,
some items will end up being used...and some maybe some not.

I also want to make some beautiful, fabric strawberries out of gorgeous old linens....

I love these faux book covers by 7 gypsies that I found at Hobby Lobby....
and yes, I have plenty of REAL old book covers but aren't these beautiful?
I've been wanting to make something special with these too ~

And this photo?
It's a plate of totally random stuff on my desk ~
I love each piece...but don't know quite what their purpose will be yet.

These sweet girls are always nearby,
cheering me on....
I love them so ~
they've lost so much hair,
and have been through a lot in their little doll lives ~
I cherish their company.

This is a photo of the stuff right above my desk,
a few random goodies that accompany me as well in my creative journey ~

Sweet little snowman ornament hats....
waiting to be used ~

My last little lavender sachet that hasn't found a home....
over top of a box that I've covered in gorgeous old sheet music.

And what's inside?
Beautiful moss chunks of course!

Another box holds beautiful old chandelier crystals....and an antique
pearl necklace that is falling apart!
I love to save the pearls....

I love so many different things.
Beautiful old fabrics, antique lace, and of course bits and bobbles....
they all play a part in pulling together
a piece of artwork that I'm proud of!!!

Happy Wednesday my sweet friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

I definitely have project piles. Most the time I use the huge ziplock bags, that hold 12x12 paper, to put all my project piles into. That way as I start collecting items that I think might go with the project I have them all together in a bag ready to go when I have time.

So glad I am not the only one with piles!

Dawn you have exactly explained how I love to surround myself with lots and lots of creative projects and inspiration. Sometimes I let things sit for a long time and then maybe put them away if I don't get the right idea. For me if things are put away I don't think to use them. Thank you for sharing your space and style. I adore your talent and art you make.

Loving all the pretties, especially the faux book covers! I like having all this stuff around too, I just do not know what to do with it except look at it and drool :)

Hey Dawn, your post is perfect! IT hit home for sure! I am a piler, a stacker, and I put things in bins and boxs and bags...Then when I am looking for them I cannot find them, then when I forget about them they show up! LOL, I think it is part of a creative gene...Thanks, Becs

When I saw your post title, Dawn, I had to comment. I thought maybe you'd seen my craft table! : ) I just cleaned it up a bit this past weekend, because not having a lot of room to work on, the project piles were growing too large for current projects. I also add things to piles that may or may not get used, but because I'm thinking of it at that moment, I add it right away so I don't forget.

You are speaking my language! Not only do I have project piles, I have drawers and cabinets full of projects waiting to be finished - or should I say started.

I love it! My hubby does not understand the concept of project piles. If I am not surrounded by them, I feel unfocused, unbalanced. I guess I need to keep my piles out of the path of Mr. Clean!!! Thanks for sharing, Dawn.

Hi sweet Dawn,
I am so glad your wrote this post, because my work table looks even worse than yours. It seems that working on one creation at a time isn't for us and for other ladies to as I read!! But thats
OK because the results for our creating tell us so!!

I find that I buy stuff that piles up all of the time! I think it's an illness ;) I have some of those canvas journals too and have done nothing with them either.

I do the exact same thing. I have an assemblage project that is all laid out on a piece of decorated canvas but I have to live with it for awhile to make sure no changes or additions before I commit to glue! Then, I have piles of pretties that might turn into a project or small groupings to inspire me. I just sit and stare sometimes while I sip coffee. I'll move things around and play with different compositions. My family is used to it. I have to remind everyone not to clean up Mommy's visions. lol

LOL! I like the term "project pile" much better than "a pile of stuff" or, even worse, "UFO - unfinished object"!

Does it count as a project pile if the "piles" are 3 and 4 deep? When does it become "mess"? My guess is never, LOL. Hugs!

Oh yes, project piles, projects pieces in baggies, projects pieces in bowls, project pieces in jars, project pieces in hat boxes, pieces gathered for projects and then I forget what the project was going to be. I know I have too many piles when my butt starts knocking over the piles as I scramble through my craft room.

Your project piles look luscious and intriguing.

I once was but started to feel overwhelmed at times so now it's just a project closet...SHUT the door!

I do the same thing with china saucers piled with odds and ends. I bring something home and not sure what it will be used for and drop it into the saucer. Every now and then my desk gets so cluttered I just have to clear some of it off and it's an ongoing challenge to figure out the correct way to organize all the little bits and pieces so I don't forget about them.

Absolutely, I love to make project piles. Your studio looks like it would be so much fun to explore - like the best antique store or curiosity shop!
