Looking beyond the obvious ~

Remember the tulips I found popping up in our flower bed a few posts ago?
Well, we were going to have a fierce thunderstorm the end of last week
and I decided to cut them and bring them in the house to enjoy!
I was just sure the rain, wind and hail would destroy them....
Well, they were gorgeous in my vase and I could tell this past weekend
that they were beginning to wilt :(
So.....
I kept looking at them wishing there was some way to preserve
their wonderful color and beauty ~

I pulled out a few sheets of vintage sheet music
and with a little matte gel medium
underneath and over top
I decided to preserve them!!!
I just LOVE how transparent they are!!!
I'm not sure what I'll do with them yet...
but I'll come up with something ~

A precious new friend of mine,
Abby of Little Birdie Blessings sent me the most
WONDERFUL gift package!!!
I have to share all of the sweetness with you...
because I know if I love it all ~
you surely will too!

Everything was wrapped so beautifully ~

Just look at the bounty!!!
Absolutely everything I love....

I just about cried when I saw these booties...

Thank you so very much sweet Abby!!!!
You truly are an angel ~ you know I love it all....

And lastly,
a peek at a very busy little gardener!!!

With one tiny flower just for you!!!

Have a beautiful Monday precious friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

I love what you have done with those tired tulip leaves. I did a very similar thing with our ornamental grape vine leaves and popped some
into one of my journal pages and they look lovely. What a sweet gift! Those little booties are exceptional!

Those booties are just too precious. Tiny baby shoes just melt me, and I'm not a melt-y kind of person. All of your little gifts are really special! And I love how you preserved your tulips - I never would have thought they'd be so translucent. I'm sure you'll think of an incredibly creative way to use them!

Loveliness from flower petals, to parcels, to a gardening granddaughter.
I appreciate your sweet comments about my work and anticipating holding your little nest.

What a clever thing to do with the tulip petals. The page would look nice as a background to one of your collages. Little Clara is just the sweetest. And... I'm so glad you liked all the vintage goodies. You photographed them so beautifully. Your post warms my heart. Blessings to you and yours. ~ Abby ~

Oh my! I hope that you are framing that photo of Clara. She is darling. So very like you to wish to preserve tulip petal goodness. I swept mine up and tossed them with a pang, but tossed they were. A creative week to you!

Hi Dawn,
The preserved petals are so beautiful! I wonder if the color will stay? I hope you will scan them for posterity. I love pressing pansies-I may have to try this with them.
Your gifts from Abby are so sweet too-she surely knows what you like! And your adorable gardener with her one flower--Adorable!
Have a wonderful week!

What a clever way to preserve your tulips. i usually press them in my flower press, but that takes a long time. What a sweet gift! Such treasures. Is that your daughter? So precious. I have been teaching my grandson (3) how to garden.

Not quite the same, I wonder what the age and story is on these. I suppose it dosent matter as they are the sweetest thangs. Speaking of sweet,,,Clara,,, does she just melt your heart or what. Is she learning crafting yet? I bet she loves your studio! Of course she does.
