On creating . . .

As I stroll through so many old blog photos,
I realize how much I really DO love making things!!!
And that I'm not too good at making multiples...
or even the same type of item twice ~
So I guess if you ever buy a piece of my artwork,
or anything else that I've made...
you're pretty much guaranteed that it's a one-of-a-kind!!

I don't know why I'm like that, I guess
my creative muse must love change...
and that's really my reason for offering my tutorials too :)

A sweet Valentine image for you ~

Some wonderful treasures I've found in the past...

Pillows I made from my most favorite barkcloth I found EVER!
These even had feather inserts....

I love making the back of the pillow gorgeous!!
Plus you can easily remove it to launder ~

Another assemblage that I made back in "the day"
circa 2007

I just love paper clay ~
I want to make a doll next....and make her clothes too!

This little fairy stood only about three inches tall ~
she was one of my very first paper clay creations.
Yes, she is chunky,
and yes, she has cankles
(calves that really don't have ankles :)
And my boys make fun of her expression but I loved her!!
And so did my daughter-in-law Emily....
so she has her now!!!

Simple patriotic pillows I made for the antique store ~
The pillow on the right?
It's just an old muslin feedsack that I slipped a
feather insert inside,
then folded over and tied with a red-checked bow!

GREAT TIP:
Look at Ross, Marshall's or TJ Max for clearance pillows that
have feather inserts!!!
Don't worry about how ugly they are,
all you want is the inside!
You can buy them for under 10.00 or so and
then create a totally new pillow cover!!!

Just fabric-covered cardboard with a sweet image
I scanned and printed out from my computer
housed inside the most precious little window ~

More paper clay sweeties ~

Paper clay work in progress items ~

Here's the one in the center finished ~
Thank you so much Joy!!!

Just seeing these older works is so inspiring me!!!!
I really need to make something....SOON  :)

I have GOT to show you the sweetest tutorial that my
friend Karen just posted on her blog Todolwen!!!
These precious flowers can be made and used in
so many wonderful ways.....

I hope you are doing great, staying warm and safe ~
I know so many of my sweet friends
are experiencing bad weather....
please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday dear friends!
hugs and love,
Dawn

Hello Sweet Dawn,

It's always wonderful to see how your skills of a craft grow,& become defined as your love of the craft grows!! What a great role model you have become by showing other artists that it really is okay to be proud of our creations. Also that taking pride in our works doesn't mean we don't continue to strengthen, and stretch our gifts. I guess what I'm trying to say is Thank you for being You!!

Dawn,

I love everything in this post! But especially your cushions, your bunnies and the print on the fabric backed card all beautifully contained in that adorable little window - you have such an eye :-)

You're inspiring me to get creating - I must set aside a little time to get out my paper and shiny bits!

Well, I'm glad I bought your little snowman last year then, Dawn! I put him on the desk where I keep my laptop so when I look up {at the holidays} I would see him. I love those bunnies.

I still have my froggie of course. He stays with all the other froggie buddies. Glad the soap business is going strong but I do miss your creative goodies.

I too have a hard time creating something more than once. I always enjoy doing something different. Another craft day planned as another day off work and school due to the snow that hit us here. So ready for spring!

Dawn, everything you make is beautiful. And the bark cloth you found for those pillows - what a treasure. I've never seen it with such beautiful flowers before!
And like you...I need to diversify my creations. I've had enough production work in my life when we wholesaled! Boooooring!
Hugs and love,
Diane

What a lovely and fun post. It's nice to walk down memory lane with you and your creations. I very much understand making one item and moving on to something else.

Come on over to Faerieluna...I am hosting a gift away for a comment left about what brings you joy. I would love to see you there.

I'm with you... I just don't like to repeat things. Is that why I have so MUCH STUFF sitting around waiting to be used? Loved the cankles remark! Made me laugh & the fact that you have passed her on to Emily is funny too. My son just rolls his eyes at my "Stuff" so I see I'm in good company. One day he said to his Dad "WHAT am I going to do with all this STUFF when she's gone"? Hubby chuckled an evil chuckle & told him "That's not gonna be MY problem". Hee Hee
We're freezing (8 degrees)our fanny's here in Texas!!! Hope it warms up soon. We SOUTHERN girls don't do COLD well. HUGS!
