Looking beyond the obvious ~

A page from my herbarium images for you sweet friends ~
be sure to click the image twice for the largest size too!

The other day I stopped by Hobby Lobby and as I walked in door
they had a fourth of July discount table with items marked 80% OFF!!!
Well, I'm not big on decorating for many other holidays other than Christmas
but I still wanted to look through the sale items ~
I try to look at things not for what they are....
but for what they COULD be ~

I found these wonderful paperweights....large and crystal clear.
Now don't get me wrong, I AM very proud to be an American but
thought I could transform them into something
totally different with gorgeous old images placed underneath ~
regularly priced at 9.99 they were only 2.00 each!!!

Now...I just need to decide exactly what to place inside!

I've missed you all SO VERY MUCH!!
After working at the soap shop this past week, every evening
I've been so exhausted ~

I have a few goodies to share with you soon...
sweet gifts that I know you'll love too!!

Thank you for your precious comments and for stopping by
even when I'm up to my neck in soap and goldfish ~
The show's been going great...and hopefully this weekend will
bring even more orders too!

Have a wonderful weekend dear friends,
hugs and love,
Dawn

Hello Sweet Dawn:
Rest and Relax. We'll be here when you're ready! Thank you so much for sharing the image of flax from your fabulous find. It's wonderful.

A personal thanks for the conversation you recently had with Lisa Mc. I appreciate the insight she shared with me from both of you. My package will be shipping (with my fingers crossed) next week. Hope they like me!

I used a vintage paperweight to tuck photos of my grandsons in for their mother's birthday...Clara's photo would look awfully cute in there, but you're probably thinking of something more vintage. Clara is definitely not vintage. ;D

It takes real creativity to see beyond one single purpose for any item, something I struggle with but am getting better at. I'm know you will find the perfect way to recreate these into something that truly suits your taste.

Dawn, I've been collecting vintage glass paperweights that have the images ruined or missing. These pop up at estate sales and flea markets quite regularly. I'm going to make my own collage images with antique ephemera to place underneath. We should challenge each other and compare paperweights at the end of the summer....are you game?

Dawn,
I love your way of shopping for supplies! You have defiantly turned me onto the clearance area of HOB LOB. Now I just need to get there before Lori cleans them out. LOL
I want to pick up a couple for myself, I can think of so many things that could be used. Wonderful.
We're packing up & hopefully heading out this afternoon. I'll call you from the road. Love ya friend. Lisa

Wonderful idea to check out those discount tables, Dawn! Yes, I could see even a vintage Christmas image in here, displayed on a table at the holidays or a paperweight on a desk with a crown or chandelier or even a lovely egg image.

Can't wait to see what you create with it.

Have a great weekend.
