I. am. a goob.

I admit it! I try to act like I have it all together
but I know and I KNOW my hubby knows
I am truly a goob!!!

Yes...this is my eye...only a goob takes a photo of their eye!

I thought I'd post and show random photos...
a few things I've made in the past
just to keep your attention!
But back to why I'm such a goob.....(short for goober)

Well, I'm making my parent's anniversary invites, right?
My mom says that she estimates about 80 folks will attend...
so that's what we're planning for, food-wise etc.
So in my MIND I'm thinking EIGHTY INVITES....OMYgoodness!!
OK, I can do this ~ so I start creating my heart out.....

I finished SEVENTY FOUR of the handmade invitations ~
(why seventy four and not eighty, I don't know...I was tired)
They turned out so sweet with their photograph....
gold ribbons.....and gold foil....and a beautiful insert
telling all about the party inside ~

I had not checked her list of addresses,
mind you, I'm still thinking EIGHTY in my mind....

WELL, I begin addressing envelopes last night and start looking at her list....
Eighty????
I start to put two and two together
and she has added up each and every PERSON
and eighty is the HEAD count NOT the invitation amount!!!!!

SOooooooooooooooo, I called my mom
and she did come up with about ten more people we could invite...
but I think I made about TWENTY or more too many invitations!!!!

So, the moral of the story is ~
I'm a goob and don't have a clue!!!

The good thing is that if mom thinks of anyone she's forgotten,
I've got plenty of invitations and am ready to send one out!!!

Wishing you an amazing Friday precious friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

Oh nothing like being prepared. You can use them as party favors on the tables or with pictures in a scrapbook album...oh the possibilities.

Hi Dawn,

From the comments it sounds like you are in good company, It's just something creative folks struggle with. It has to do with that left or right brain thing. I loved your story and all the neat items in the photos as I scrolled along. I'm not sure why you took the picture of your eye, you do have beautiful amber colored eyes. Did you take the picture? I always blink. lol
Warmly,
Linda

Hi Dawn:
It's what we "goobs" do! We also do things like stitch our needlework to our skirts (or slacks), put a wrong ingredient in a recipe (because we were reading the recipe BELOW the one we were actually making), and forget where we misplaced our pencil (only to find it sitting at a jaunty angle above our left - or right - ear). We're blessed not to have jobs like Rocket Scientist, Nuclear Physicist or Heart Surgeons. Although, we have the aptitude for fine work, it's just as well that no one's life hangs in the balance. lol

And, to those of us who love you...you're not really a "goob", you're a "creative". Huge difference.

Have a great day, Sweetie!
xoxo
Donna

You are not a goob, just a sweet daughter. Hey, I have an idea, have your parents recycle the extras, pop in a new message and send them out as Christmas cards! At least this task is behind you! Enjoy the weekend.

I instantly recognized one of the goodies in your photos. I still have the frog in my office and I always think of you and how far you've come with your creativity. It's been fun to watch your journey-- thanks for sharing. Oh yeah- and I hate when that happens-- the goob thing.

You can send me a leftover. I will not come, but I would love to have something you created!!! Great pictures, thanks. You are really alot of fun and a GREAT daughter. The invitations will be cherished for the love and thought that went into them, and then some! Have a good weekend!

I really love all of your creations, Dawn, but I have to tell you I couldn't stop looking at that last lady doll ~ just lovely. Your eye looks pretty good! : ) Let me tell you what a goob I can be. Sometimes I forget that I'm using a digital camera and the screen shows the image I'm taking a picture of and I go to put my eye up to the camera! God, how many years has it been since I actually had a camera you had to do that for!

Always nice to have extra invites; you need to keep a few as keepsakes! I had extra for my daughter's baby shower and framed one for the shower and we've got one for the baby's keepsake box that I'm making.

Don't forget you'll need a couple for a memory album! You are NOT a goober - just creatively minded. BTW, I have recently adopted 'goober' from you. It's not a common term here in the Northwest but it is quite useful ;)

Oh Sweetie, how you make me laugh. That sounds so much like something I would do. I'm a goober too. I can't wait to see those beautiful invitations. I'm sure you'll create something fabulous with them if you don't use them all.

Thank you for sending me well wishes when I was in the hospital. I'm home and recouping now but the emails really cheered me up. Thank you for being a dear friend. Who knew a kitty could do such damage. ha-ha.

And by the way you're eye is beautiful!!!

Hugs...Tracy :)

Ok, Goob, so let's see those invitations! Did I miss something? Or did you send them out already?

Well, maybe you could add the remainder to some fabulously creative centerpieces. You'll think of something!

PS. I think I now have a new word to throw around, thanks! I'll pretend, of course, that I came up with it. LOL

LOL....One good goob deserves another...so here I am! This sounds like the baptism favors for our Jalina Roses party! Funny thing is 80 was our "project" number too! I was to make a decorated enhanced candlefor each "family" and that 80 stuck in my head...silly us! So if you find more people to send your invites to let me know...I am sure they will love a party favor from Jalinas baptism...lol....and so may our creative juices flow...and flow and flow

The extras could be decorations or tucked in a scrapbook pocket for future generations (children, grandchildren, so on). I was tickled the other day when my mother-in-law gave me a couple of business cards of her grandfather's that were 70-80 years old. I put one in each of my son's scrapbook.....so they each have a one. At some point, he probably thought "What am I going to do with all these old business cards?" lol

Blessings -

Christa

Hey Goob,
Great post, at least you made too many instead of not enough! Those lampshades, OMG!!! When I picked up that Handcrafted & saw them I about died. I didn't even know they were yours until later. You used some good stuff on those my friend. I can honestly say, yours are most favorite of all the lampshades I've seen. I'm not just saying that cuz I love you. They really are. Hope your not melting as bad as me today. Lisa
