A funny thing happened on the sofa the other night...

Night before last, I nestled down into our sofa
with my brand spankin' new copy of
Somerset Life.
I found it at my lovely Books-A-Million and was so glad!!!
I love this magazine and have enjoyed each and every issue.
I've been so fortunate to have had some of my artwork published
in Somerset Life and that is ALWAYS wonderful!

I love seeing many of my precious blog friends between the pages.
Some for their pure style and inspiration ~

And some for their amazing way of making everyday items beautiful.

And even some for their beautiful artwork and handiwork ~

It's always chock full of ideas that you can
even adapt to the supplies you have on hand.

And as ALWAYS the photography is gorgeous.

Towards the end of the magazine (sad time)
I was relishing each and every page and
came to an article about transforming lampshades ~
I didn't read it because I always look at the photos first!

Beautiful fabrics and ruffles draped around the frames were beautiful ~

And I turned the page to the last part of the article....
I stop.
These look QUITE familiar to me!
WHAT???
The lace lampshades were my submissions about three years ago!!!!
I didn't even know they were going to be in this issue either!
I didn't write the article for these but they
really did well describing how I made my altered lampshades.

Crazy, huh???
I usually receive a complimentary issue in the mail a
couple of weeks before the magazine hits the news stands but
for some reason didn't this time.

Sooooooo ~ I'm glad I bought it so I could see my stuff in it!!!

These are mine below:

It really is another gorgeous issue.
If you decide to go out and buy one, you won't be disappointed!!!

Have a wonderful Friday precious friends...
hugs and love,
Dawn

Good morning and congratulations. What a thrill, especially as you were not expecting it. I love all the Somerset magazines, but they are very difficult to get hold of here in the UK. I've managed to get a few on e-bay, but DH says, (roars) HOW much for a magazine. You just can't explain things like that to men, can you? Oh well, I've enjoyed looking at your pics. Well done.

Congratulations Dawn! How fun to find your lampshades so unexpectedly! They are absolutely gorgeous, like everything your artist hand creates! The issue looks as delicious and inspiring as ever and I'm excited to get my hands on it too as I have an ad in this one! Guess I better plan a trip to Books-a-million today!

For your readers outside the U.S. I'd love to suggest a visit to a lovely online boutique owned by Tedi Mercer, called Petite Bookstore. She offers all the Stampington publications and ships International for $15 and to Canada for $11. http://www.petitebookstore.com/shopping/somerset_publications/page_1.aspx

Thank you Dawn for the great post and beautiful images. I'm going to have to check the thrift stores for lampshades as I just received a box full of amazing laces trims from a friend! Have a wonderful Fourth of July weekend my Georgia friend!

Well, congratulations again. Will have to get a copy to fully enjoy the lampshades. I have an old lampshade void of its original covering. Have been meaning to do something with it. This may be what I need to do.

Congrats again.

Well, I'm going to have to buy it now! : ) Peeks at all those pictures make it tempting to sit and savor over the weekend. I hope they at least mentioned your name in the article or by the pictures of yours.

Well my first thought was, did they give you credit for the lampshades. Then in the next photo with the article, I could see they did.
So, congratulations sometimes surprises are the nicest things.
