Classic Beauty ~

If you've ever gone back in my blog archives and read the posts,
you'd know how much I've always loved Victoria magazine ~

I was even able to attend the launch party
of the new Victoria magazine in Dallas, Texas!!!
But the wonderful thing about all of their issues, old and new,
is the true classic beauty that is shown on their pages.

Thanks to my precious friend Marcy,
who gifted me some wonderful old issues...
I've been looking through them and enjoying everything all over again!
Now the photo below is from Victorian Sampler which I believe
is the beginnings of Victoria ~
Look at how gorgeous this is.....
I want one!

(click on any photo to enlarge)

The photos below are from Victoria magazine in the '90s.....
still breathtaking now!!!

One of Tasha Tudors gorgeous creations!!! I want to make one!!!

A feature in another issue, Sue Balmforth of Bountiful ~
still as gorgeous as ever...

And this page below...I. just. love.

Classic beauty.
I love it...trends may come and go,
but gorgeous is always gorgeous, don't you think?

Have a WONDERFUL Friday precious friends!
hugs and love,
Dawn

Hi sweetie, well you already know how much I love Victoria. No publication ever had the power to carry me away like it has. In years past, I used to just wait for the new issue to come out so that I could steal some time from my life and sit and take in all the beauty that it had to give me. These images from the mag. are very familiar to me, as I have looked over my Victorias so many times in the past and I went through every one again this Winter. Love them all so much. If I had a fire, I probably would get Dale and Landon out and go back in for them. LOL! Just kidding...maybe.
I LOVE your little peat pot baby!!! That is just darling. Do you know how much I love your art?????
hugs

A beautiful- beautiful post dear Dawn! Victoria ( a fabulous name, by the way!) has always been one of my favorites. I could just kill myself for giving all those magazines away years ago - ugh!!!!-why did I do that!

Everything you do seems to be worthy of being on one of their beautiful pages - This is a great tribute to their beautiful magazine.

I love Victoria magazine,too...My mom gave me a subscription every year after I got married starting in 1990, and I saved every issue!! Each month I go back through all the ones for that month!! True confessions here!

Had collected every Victoria magazine from day one until it was out of print for a while..and then had to give them all away when we move from one State to the other...I heard later the elderly lady I gave them too...had a stroke and later they torn her house down for a condo project..I wonder if ANYONE saved those mag's .
I will never know.

Yes, classic beauty for sure..they knocked themselves out being classic with their photography.

Hi Dawn!
I had to read your post aloud to my husband this morning as I have kept all my old Victoria magazines since way back when! They are at the lake house and every summer when we get up there I enjoy sitting in the shade looking at the lake and looking at those beautiful photos....so relaxing! You are so right...they are timeless!

Oh gosh, I remember getting Victoria magazine in the 90's, too! I'll bet you could make that frame, Dawn! I wonder if your peat pots would work for this.

Dawn,
Yes, the good stuff never gets old does it? Love that twig frame, too cool. And Bountiful, I don't think we've given her any couch time have we? LOL Your scans look better than mine. You'll have to share your trick. Have a great day at your estate sale, find some good treasures! Lisa
PS Dang, I forgot you were in Dallas. Why couldn't that be now?!

Dawn, I so agree. Those photos are all as gorgeous as ever. They haven't dated at all! I visited Bountiful years ago when on vacation in California, and I almost fainted with happiness :)

Hi Dawn,
Nothing like the old Victoria! It is the best. I purchased a huge lot of them for $5 a couple years ago at a garage sale. They were in perfect condition too. Glad I had hubby along that day to carry the box! lol

Hi Dawn,
I agree, the old Victoria magazine was soooo wonderful! I kept every issue for many years in the 80's but in the early 2000's after I had gone through them all and ripped out anything that I though would be inspiring, I gave them all away. Sometimes I wish I had not done that, but I guess I am traveling through life with enough boxes of "cool stuff" as it is. ha. I believe that the old Victoria Sampler was the beginnings of Romantic Home. I had every issue including the first one up until just recently, and alas I had to do the same thing with those. They seemed so much better to me than the new ones. I know you could easily duplicate that wonderful frame!! You can do anything! Love the peat pots. Have a great day, Linda

This post has stuck my heart strings. I will never forget the day their doors closed, it was a tramatic event for me. Love these photos as I do everything in the old Victoria. I bet you could make that lavender pot mirror easily. Hope all is well with you.

Hugs!

Dawn,

I could totally see you putting your own twist on that fantastic mirror using some of your new peat pots and wonderful natural materials intertwined with bits of aged cheese cloth! You are so right, classic beauty never ever goes out of style. Have a great weekend!

You can make that mirror ala Miz D. style, I bet it would be even better!!! Just do it! I love my old mags, even if they are heavy to move,,,well I am not moving again. It is the second best way of spending time, the first, now, is reading blogs.
