I know it's not Spring quite yet ~

But this IS the month it officially arrives!!
Just twenty more days....March 20th ~

We had a beautiful weekend here in Georgia.
Sunny, brilliant blue skies and teeny, tiny buds are showing
their leaves in our shrubs.

I have a few images to share with you today.
Some I may have already given you,
but they are beautiful to me...
and also several Spring poems ~
(I'm sorry these aren't the most crisp images but
when printed out smaller they should look fine)

#812

Emily Dickinson

A Light exists in Spring
Not present on the Year
At any other period —
When March is scarcely here

A Color stands abroad
On Solitary Fields
That Science cannot overtake
But Human Nature feels.

It waits upon the Lawn,
It shows the furthest Tree
Upon the furthest Slope you know
It almost speaks to you.

Then as Horizons step
Or Noons report away
Without the Formula of sound
It passes and we stay —

A quality of loss
Affecting our Content
As Trade had suddenly encroached
Upon a Sacrament.

To Spring

William Blake

O thou with dewy locks, who lookest down
Through the clear windows of the morning, turn
Thine angel eyes upon our western isle,
Which in full choir hails thy approach, O Spring!

The hills tell one another, and the listening
Valleys hear; all our longing eyes are turn’d
Up to thy bright pavilions: issue forth
And let thy holy feet visit our clime!

Come o’er the eastern hills, and let our winds
Kiss thy perfumèd garments; let us taste
Thy morn and evening breath; scatter thy pearls
Upon our lovesick land that mourns for thee.

O deck her forth with thy fair fingers; pour
Thy soft kisses on her bosom; and put
Thy golden crown upon her languish’d head,
Whose modest tresses are bound up for thee.

Spring Quiet

Christina Rossetti

Gone were but the Winter,
Come were but the Spring,
I would go to a covert
Where the birds sing.

Where in the whitethom
Singeth a thrush,
And a robin sings
In the holly-bush.

Full of fresh scents
Are the budding boughs
Arching high over
A cool green house:

Full of sweet scents,
And whispering air
Which sayeth softly:
“We spread no snare;

“Here dwell in safety,
Here dwell alone,
With a clear stream
And a mossy stone.

“Here the sun shineth
Most shadily;
Here is heard an echo
Of the far sea,
Though far off it be.”

What a lovely, uplifting post! I woke this morning to blue skies and sunshine as well. Isn't that just the most glorious feeling, when you can luxuriate in a little bit of warm sunshine on your face when you take a little stroll outside?

Good Morning Dawn, what a nice way to start the day, thank you. It may reach 40 degrees here, I will have to start looking at the ground in search of crocus spouting from under the remaining snow.

Cheers,
Angie

DAWN DAWN DAWN! You are making me absolutely twitchy here! We still have piles and piles of snow and I so need to get out into the garden. The hubs brought home a grow light so we can at least start some seeds. Keep the spring theme going so I don't go too crazy in MN!

We don't have any green buds here yet, but the skys are blue and some of the snow is melting. Thanks for giving us a vision of spring to tide us over until we see our own little green buds, sigh.

I am so very ready for spring! I noticed that that the crocus, tiger lily's, jonquils, and iris are pushing through here but as for tree buds, none yet, but the robins are returning, a sure sign it is on the way!

Congrats on the new blog, I know it will be great. I only wish I lived close enough to shop there.

Have a sweet Monday!

Hi Dawn! It was a beautiful weekend here, but we also had a cold wind in our "neck" of the woods! The thought of "snow" tomorrow leaves me in great anticipation of spring! Thanks for the images, I love the one with the hollyhocks as I just started some seeds yesterday, and bought some plants as I love them so. Griffin is about an hour or so from me, maybe I'll head that way on a warm day!

That woman with the roses in her hair is one of the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen. Somebody's eager for spring quoting spring poetry and all...very nice. All the best with the shopping and the blogging for Antique Griffin!

Hi Dawn, Oh I love the Beatrix Potter image! And yes, I think Spring actually WILL come. I really miss spring in Georgia, we used to live in Marietta, 25 years ago. I still miss it. I put up my giveback so come by to enter! Have a great day!

The "almost spring" poem that spoke loudest to me, published years ago in a magazine:

March, I hate thee.
For you are married to winter
yet holding hands with spring.

Funny way of looking at the crazy weather month!

Hi Dawn,
Thank you for these lovely images and poetry....I have to take your word for it concerning spring as we still have several feet of snow. There's something to be said for moving south when retired! Take care, Laura
