I might be able to find my stuff now!

Does straightening up your art supplies
get you excited about creating??
I've been trying to put away some of the visual clutter in my studio
and it's really made the space look so much better!!
I have so many tiny things that I thought if I could group
and conceal some of them it would help the room not look so junky.

Remember the piece I found at Michael's Saturday?
I was able to use a half off coupon and of course you know I loved that!!
I've filled it up now....

Ribbons on the side ~

Odds and ends in the top ~

Glitters in the first drawer ~

Assemblage and collage embellishments and doo-dads ~

More ribbon ~

Today I decided that I'd like another piece
of this organizing furniture from Michael's.
Not the same piece but a different one.
I took in another 50% off coupon to use and then
when I checked out it was 50% off already!!
It has four boxes that I just placed the lids on the bottom
so I could use them like drawers.
(I already had the carousel that's on top)

This is now my snippet box, bigger and much better!
Great for saving those tiny scraps that can still be used.

I love my nature stash ~ perfect for assemblages....

I think this is an acorn cap from a burr oak....
doesn't it look like a hat??

Twine, hemp and string ~ a few artificial flowers

Eggs and small pine cones ~

I love getting my supplies organized and so I can find them...
I'm getting there!!

I hope your Tuesday is wonderful sweet friends ~
hugs and love,
Dawn

It is hard to believe you need to be organized to be better inspired... the drawer with the teal and brown ribbons sets my heart aflutter...
The drawers are perfect, each item available at a quick glance and inspiration at the ready.

Oh my goodness, Dawn, they are right little treasure chests, I just know I could spend hours looking through them and oohing and aahing over the contents.

Now listen Dawn, because of you I have to get off my lazy butt and go get organized! You have inspired me to make my mess look like small works of art. I enjoyed peeking into all your goodies. You are ONE ORGANIZED CHICK!
I was at Michaels yesterday and did not see that fantastic big piece but I'll check back again.
Love it.

Perfect, Dawn! Don't you love these pieces of organizational furniture they manufacture for us creative souls!

Yesterday I spent sorting tiny, teeny beads! I sorted according to color, size, style....because I like to buy assortments instead of containers of all one type unless they're seed beads - which I use the most of.

It was fun! Rather relaxing. I used my tweezers, of course!

You're right, there's something enjoyable about organizing. And....I think we find things we've forgotten all about! Which leads to more inspiration!

Hubby and I especially like your little "library card" box that you found at the Hobby Lobby. We're going scouting for one of those!
He said "Let's go today!" Can you believe this man! 9 degrees outside and windy! I passed! ;-)

Hugs!! Diane

PS: I just showed Hubby your collections of goodies! He chuckled! "Just like you", he said!
Especially the goodies picked up on nature walks! They're the BEST!

Dawn,

I love your new storage! Even more I love getting a peek at your supplies. I have just one more tiny area to go over and my 11 month journey of reorganizing my studio will be complete! Yep, 11 long months of culling, sorting, and grouping and I am finding I am more apt o be creative since I put hands on things quickly. Finally I get to doing some of the pretty stuff! I adore your studio and hope mine can grow up to be like yours one day!

I've been wanting a tabouret (sp?) for a long time. Good for you for finding one at half price. Where do you get the 50% off coupons for Michael's?

Your collections and supplies are so inspiring. You've set yourself up to love, love, love your time in your studio. Enjoy many delightful and productive hours creating.

Yeah- cleaning up the work space is on my list for this week. Being organized is the key and yours looks great. I'm glad I also have a closet - the catch all- for all the things that don't have a drawer. :-) I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who collects nature- that's my favorite. Joy

So inspiring...still have tons to do around the house before I can tackle the studio...but it will be my treat for New Years Day. Hope you don't mind if I use some of your organizational tricks...:)

My problem is...I know were everything is, until I organize! Then it is a whole new learning curve!

Your work is a treasure to behold! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Dawn,
Love your blog and your room.
I have been doing the same thing for the last couple of days, i have 5 sections in my craft room for diffrent crafts. I have been trying to reduce visual clutter. I have so many supplies that as i am going thru them straightening and calling myself throwing away, i just cant depart because they are new or i have a grand project for it. Either i need a bigger room or just close my eyes with a trash bag in my hand, lol

Your amazing Dawn!!!! Even your storage looks like art!! Thanks for sharing. I was hoping to set up a corner in the house for me to work over the holidays but I haven't had the time - my kids are keeping me busy. But I don't mind. My almost 18 year old wants to hang out with me and that means more to me than anything! Lisa
Oh ya, belated Happy Birthday!

Oh my gosh Dawn!

If you ever saw my messes you would probably croak!
Wonder how i ever get anything done the way i 'store' things, and especially when i am working.
If I were not so embarrassed, I would take photos of all the mess.

You all would feel so wonderful about how tidy your things all are. =0))

blessings and hugs, and thanks always for coming by. =0)

I love seeing how you organized all your small things drawer by drawer- love the string and nature drawers! Sometimes I like the organizing better than the actual doing.

I sure do like all the furniture pieces they have today for organizing all our stuff. I'm glad you have something for your ribbon, and all your little things you use on a daily basis is right on hand. I still have to run to Ikea and go back to Michaels to check out more stuff. That's what we need is more 'stuff'! But it's for art and creating I say!
Thanks Dawn, for all your ideas and tips.

I think we all are trying to organize and get ready for the new year. You should really be a professional organizer (in your spare time)though..you have quite a knack for creating and organizing systems! Happy New Year!

You have inspired me. My workspace is a wreck. Oddly enough, I just posted about it this morning, not long before finding yours.

Oh my dear! If you saw the state of affairs in my workshop, you'd never craft again. (And it would force you to run screaming into the streets). If I haven't scared you yet, please come to Oregon right away!

Like minds think alike! I was on vacation all of last week and spent 4-5 full days going through every single craft supply box and drawer I have. I packed a pickup truck full of stuff to give my sister and cousin and still have enough for 50 people. It is ridiculous, but I am just addicted to craft supplies. I did find some things I forgot about, do you do that too?? Glad your Christmas was great with that adorable grandchild. Best wishes for a wonderful new year as well. QueenMarcy

I love getting organized, but I have discovered that it only takes me a couple minutes to mess up a perfectly clean space! I like to see all of my materials laid on on horizontal spaces. My dream is to have a 20 foot long work table! Maybe two!
