A few wonderful finds ~

I went treasure hunting Friday and just had to share with you the little treasures I found! I don't know what it is about these precious little baby shirts but when they are only 3.00....they are coming home with me!! I love them! I've been thinking of a few ideas to turn them into artwork but haven't quite gotten around to working on them.

The most adorable little cigar box (if they can be adorable), Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass which is so small, I just love it . . . a French text book, more sheet music (I know, but it ranks right up there with fabric, whoever dies with the most WINS), some great old photos, a group of tiny bottles and one looks like it has that violet hue! An old wallet with our initial on it and the most precious postcard with a big shell and baby on it . . .

Why do I love this tattered, stained, old photo (above)? I can't quite tell you except that she's adorable and I love tattered, stained and old.

And look what Walt Whitman says about beautiful women:

Wishing you a peaceful, happy Sunday ~
xxoo, Dawn

Dawn, Treasures! And I totally and wholeheartedly agree with you: chips, cracks, tatters, tears, water stains....etc....all add character and tell a story! If only they could talk....

Oh Dawn!
I would say that your day of hunting was fruitful! I'm with you all the way on the tattered and worn photos. Do you suppose they evoke a sense of "well-loved" in us? Sort of like the story of the Velveteen rabbit. To me they speak of a photo that has been touched and savored and gazed upon repeatedly. Too pristine means they got stowed in a safe place and forgotten. Doesn't make them less special, but no one lovingly and adoringly went to them time and time again to smile and remember...

Are you enjoying the Atlanta heat?! Sure wish we'd get a decent rain out of these storms that keep rolling through.

A blessed Sunday to you and yours,
xo

Hi dawn

For some reason blogspot eliminated the dashes in your url on my link! That's why I thought your blog had vanished.

I have a lot of catching up to do. Good thing I have a quiet few days coming up. Can't wait to see what you've been up to.

Beautiful. You find the most amazing things. Love the tattered photo. When I find photos at shops or yard sales, I think of the hands that once held them... loved them...

I found some of those little shirts before my oldest was born. We lived in Alabama at the time and it was the first time I had ever seen such a thing. He lived in them that first summer.
