Another little thing I love to collect ~

Lace. It is so pretty to me. The older the better, too. Fragile and discolored with age ~ to me, it's just gorgeous. I love to have it on hand for different projects but I also love to collect it because it's vintage beauty is so inspiring to me . . . one little fragment can have so much detail ~

Do you see the lace sleeve in the center of the photo below? I often think what a beautiful gown or blouse it must have belonged to and were was is worn? All I have is one little sleeve but I just love it . . .

Hoping you're having a wonderful week!

You have a beautiful collection of lace! Lace is one of the things I love to collect too. I find most of mine at estate sales. One of my favorite pieces is very similar to one in your third photo. I don't know the correct name, but it looks like embroidered netting. And, it has just the right amount of coloring from age.

I too love lace. I love it so much that I took up bobbin lacemaking as a hobby. I just started a new project for some handmade lace last night with two friends. We get together once a month to "talk lace". It is great fun to do. I will share photos of the project as it progresses on my needlework blog...

Hugs ~

What a lovely collection of lace. It's all beautiful.

I have a small collection and it's interesting to just look through and think about... One lace piece is darned and fixed so many times - but kept...makes me wonder who wore it and why they saved it.

I have a little collection of lace too, I don't do much with it except take it out once in a while to look at. It seems to be one of those things you can pick up for a song at tag sales. That sleeve is absolutely gorgeous, can you imagine the dress it was on? And why on earth would it be separated from the gown? Thanks for sharing your collection:>)

Thank you for the lovely pictures of lace. I absolutely love handmade bobbin lace but it's so expensive these days that it's pretty hard to come by! I mostly crochet lace. Your collection is lovley, though!

Lovely lace! Those old lace sleeves are wonderful for dressing dolls. I made one once called Our Lady of the Lace whose dress and underthings were 3 vintage lace sleeves. Just gorgeous!
