"A fun day at the mall" (yeah right.)

Well, there's nothing like a trip to the mall and this place to make you feel like an old bag. We took our sixteen year old and his buddy (and also the nine year old, who thinks he's sixteen) to the mall today. Wow. If we just had some stock in this store (Hollister).

It was teaming with kids trying to look cool and parents trying to talk to those kids who were trying to ditch their parents because obviously it's not cool to talk to your parents. Well anyway, my husband and I are veterans at this whole ditching thing and as soon as we walked into this little chaotic wonderland of perfect yet ragged clothes, we found a comfy place to sit. Do you think they must know that the parents will be disgusted and need to take a load off? They've provided the most wonderful leather easy chairs all around the store.

After about a half of an hour or so, we were out of there and they had my money in their cash register. We didn't buy much at this store, just three shirts but just enough to get a piece of "cool." Whatever that is.

School starts tomorrow for us. We will have to get back in the groove of getting up early and trying to go to bed early (we're all night owls around here.) I'm home this week from the store and hope to be very productive ~ and of course I'll have to visit all of you . . . because you inspire me!! xxoo, Dawn

Is Hollister the one that's so dark inside! If it is, it's because they dont want you to really see the pricetag! LOL I know what you mean about night owls, I love to stay up late and it does not help that Mr.Lisa works graveyard and I hear every noise when he is gone. Happy first day back in the groove! XOXO Lisa

I used to love it when school started! Now my kids are too old which does have its blessings (no need to buy "cool" clothes that cost half a house):)

Enjoy the first week of school...it's a great time

Hi Dawn,

I think I'm getting old. Never heard of Hollisters. Grandson #1 is 13 soon. I'm sure I'll be hearing store names I've never heard of before!

Hello to you my friend... I do just so love shopping with my son, alas he is away so much I don't get the chance. The withdrawal symptoms when he's not around are too hard some times!!
Just loved your B.P. Cindy's taste,I can see why you 2 work together.I cant decide now if I want to move into your shop or hers...perhaps i'll just do week and week about.

Hi Dawn, you made me laugh thinking back to the time when I had to take my boys shopping for school, and yes this was one of their fav places, but if they acted like they were going to ditch me and didn't want to talk to me, guess what the checkbook went to, ha! ha! No really, I guess I'm blessed that my boys think it's actually cool to hang out w/ their parents :) I do miss those days!! Ya'll school starts way too soon, what happened to the days when it didn't start until Labor Day, oh guess that's when we went to school. Have a great week!

I hated when my kids started that first week of back to school. Back to rigid schedules and deadlines. The old beat the clock game. We had such a good time during summer breaks I was sad to see it end.
Best,
Kathy

This cracked me up. Fortunately daughter still loves going to pretty little stores like "Hello Kitty", "Libby Lu" and "Justice". She went into one that is all "skateboardy", "rockish", dark and "cool".
She hated it.
Phew...

I hate malls! So I know what you mean. I would much rather go to a small shop than a huge mall. Have a great day. Nita
